Think you’re right… 😒 certainly that much snow…. March/April with those conditions have been some of the happiest days I’ve had in the mountains. Especially in the Cairngorms 😍

A treat indeed 😜 Last year I took a friend up for his first Munro…he was made up to get an Irn Bru.. didn’t have the heart to tell him not all Munros are like this 😂🤣

They said two F15’s had crashed in the area and they were recovering the wreckage and the fuel contamination. as I walked my tops I saw them collecting snow with machinery… they went to great lengths to clean up.. very sad incident and feel for the families and mountain rescue.

Don’t go near these areas…showed me a map..which showed Ben Macdui and the exclusion zone. I had no idea of what had happened… pre social media..and I hadn’t seen the news… they agreed my route was fine and outside the zone so I was given the okay to go in.

Same, never had an issue with camping alone. It may have been a week or a couple of weeks but I turned up at Linn of Dee car park, slept in car…next morning military guys knocked on the car. They said what were my intentions? I said I was walking a route of 4 Munros over two days….

Totally..solo bothy trips not for me either. One time I used a bothy solo was the Hutchison Memorial Hut,Coire Etchachan a week after the F15’s crash on Ben Macdui in 2001. Lay under the big window and felt a presence, like someone was looking in the window at me. It was deathly quiet..hardly slept
