Folks hate the idea of windowless bedrooms, but an east-facing window at 49° latitude in May/June/July is a bug, not a feature. I just bought a couple of sheets of black foam and cut them to pop into the window frames, and after last night I can say it's the best $40 I've spent in a long time.

I sometimes look at Yelp not so much for reviews and stuff but to remind me what’s around. Where I’m staying is kind of a backwater but I love how it suggests I might pop out to Powell River (2 hour drive plus 90 minute ferry) or Neah Bay (maybe a solid day’s drive) for a snack.
