This fire has moved from 24hrs to within ten days. It's probably too wet to burn plannedburns.ffm.vic.gov.au/burn-site/30...

There is no protection and no accountability for threatened fauna and flora, even within a Fauna and Flora Reserve , they all get burnt regardless. In fact Parks and Reserves take up around 50% of the state planned burn targets

#FFMV are about to light up 80Ha of the Providence Ponds Fauna and Flora Reserve again!. The road is Mouse Track - so named for the nationally endangered New Holland Mouse that lives here. This 1 of only 3 locations in Victoria where this EPBC listed #NewHollandMouse #Pookila remains

- Demand an enquiry into critical habitat destruction and the efficacy of these burns in actually stopping bushfires
- Demand transparent on-ground pre and post burn cultural heritage, fauna and flora surveys
- Stop burning precious old growth forest

Please help us let the Charters Towers Council know that this is unacceptable.
They can be reached by phone at 07 4761 5300 or the Flying Fox Hotline at 1300 319 954 or you can lodge a complaint on their website at fs30.formsite.com/ctrc/form74/...

Flying-foxes are loyal to their roost sites. They can be temporarily scared away from a camp but will almostalways return days or months later. They usually disperse to a location near the original camp, often in a more inconvenient location (backyards for example)

There is no practical way of removing flying-foxes from most urban areas, and no need to for human health or safety. There is no disease that can be caught by walking or living near a bat camp or having them feed in your garden.

Charters Towers again attempt to remove Little Red Flying Foxes & Black Flying Foxes from their town by scaring them with loud noises. The noise pollution is bad enough that people with pets are told to keep them inside. This is cruel and can lead to the death of flying foxes.

It can't be good for folks who are working in this environment either, and what's in the accelerant and fire retardant foam?

Dropping off cliffs are waterfalls, sheltered narrow gullies, large areas of old growth forest, and the most southern occurrence of warm temperate rainforest … If you went looking for Spot-tailed Quolls, this is where you might find them. The Falls after rain 📷 Josie Patterson

We didn’t find any koalas and it looks like the fire has dropped into ridges and gullies up near the Roaring Mag falls. We are concerned for the whole suite of threatened, rare and endemic flora and fauna records within this burn site.
