The Alignment Problem has been in the house the whole time. This is why we aren't getting Universal Basic Income or Job Retraining in the face of economic dislocation. I already wrote a long thread against AI in the classroom. As summer hits, I am seeing lots of essays from teachers against AI. But the reality is that the decision makers most focused on deploying AI are definitionally the least interested in essays from writer/teachers. That's why they love AI.
