This has been an emotional journey for me today. đ Thank you listening, and I hope you can develop some peace with your commute when the cyclists donât pull over.

âŠjust to get a few cars lengths ahead. At my expense! If anyone had been run off, Iâd have felt theyâd earned it. I am ashamed of that.
We have the human right to be annoyed. We shouldnât feel okay about opportunities for others to be hurt.

My first reply, I realized, was a reaction to realizing my own damage and black & white feelings of what is justified. When I was young and and self involved I tried to prevent merging traffic from getting ahead of me in one spot of my commute. How dare they be in this lane they KNEW was endingâŠ

It doesnât matter that much if itâs 10 or 40 mph slower, though, does it. Itâs that you have to do something you donât want to do. Youâd surely feel the same way if you came up behind a funeral procession, but you know how it would sound to demand they pull over for you.

Been thinking. You know what, I would be annoyed having to slow down, too. Itâs the lack of control, right? But it would frighten me if I felt okay about running someone off the road or about cyclists getting pushed off roads. Thatâs not justice and itâs not the lesson learned you want it to be.

Special exemption here as I lived in the back of beyond where cable wasnât an option until at least the mid 90s and I would have had to bike for maybe 10 miles to Grandmaâs for it. And she wouldnât have left me in peace to watch MTV. Oh and we had no AC.
