We need a new generation of leaders who are the voices of democracy, freedom, social justice, & the rule of law.  A new generation that gives meaning to the “we” in “we the people.” Instead of fretting over Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party should embrace him as the future.

Mamdani, like all socialists, will be held up to his own impossible rubric. Rather than comparing him to other mayors or the conditions he was given by Adams, he'll be compared to the hypothetical perfect nyc that has never existed and never could. Every crisis will be inflated, every win minimized.

So weird that Dems who said Trump won because Dems weren’t focusing enough on young voters and kitchen table issues are actively opposing a candidate who won the NYC mayoral primary doing just that. Almost as if that’s not really the concern…

The only reason everyone calls the primary in NYC a surprise is because they don’t listen to the people. Hopefully more people realize you can’t fix a broken system with the same broken people.

Time to take away elected officials benefits, healthcare, retirement, stock tips/insider trading, paid lunches , every perk they get . They will get over it

NYC's plutocrats are giving Zohran Mamdani a winning message. It's the people of NYC against the awful loud-mouthed billionaires who think they know better than you. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/26/n...

RIP to a real one. Stood up for the truth in a sea of lies. Bill Moyers, eminence of public affairs broadcasting, dies at 91 www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2...

Each time a remotely progressive candidate wins office in the US, the rich declare they're going to leave town. What do they actually do? Nothing. A 2016 study found only 0.04% of millionaires move in a given year due to tax increases. Rich people talk to feel important. Please properly tax them.

A reminder that the @nytimes.com told New Yorkers to not rank Mamdani at all, & instead endorsed former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson. Tilson sits at a whopping .8%. Corporate media trust is dead. They killed themselves by failing to fulfill their promise of holding the powerful accountable.

Muslim guy: what if a poor person could buy vegetables Reasonable New Yorker: I am moving to a Whites Only compound 1,140 miles away from here as soon as possible. Please invite me onto the television to say this again.

It's wild watching the Democratic Party cut its own throat on television and social media. Please, tell me louder that you only care about power and money and that virulent gutter racism is baked into the protection of those things.

Some people think this is an exaggeration but I will say that if I were HHS Secretary and my goal were to kill as many children as possible, it would be difficult to distinguish the actions I would take from those that Kennedy has taken.

Oh no now republicans will do racebaiting ads and attack trans people and call everything we do socialist how do we deal with the thing they have been doing for decades

This is a Hall of Fame reader comment on a very reactionary op-ed about Zohran Mamdani's victory that was published in my local paper today.

Something the Mamdani win demonstrates is the extent to which the reigning cadre of ancient, establishment, centrist Dems think it’s more important to be on good terms with their GOP colleagues than it is to represent their own voters, and how thoroughly sick of this literally everyone is.

I'm sure this will be great and not at all exploited by bad faith zealots to misdirect and distort good reporting and criticism

So many things to love about this NYC result, from the policy possibilities it creates and generational change it delivers to the rebuttal of the naked and cynical Islamophobia Mamdani's opponents tried to stir up and the schadenfruede over dirtbag Cuomo's big sad. Today, I❤️NY!!

it's always disappointing to miss out on a job but it is twisting the knife to hear "you talk too fast and go off topic" as the reason why i literally open ever call with "i have adhd, i go off piste", so it's always "yes, i know, i told you in advance"

I guess you could say the people who thought Andrew Cuomo ran a better campaign than Zohran Mamdani were sequestered in echo chambers and out of touch with what people offline wanted out of a candidate

What to take away from the Mamdani win: voters want decent, genuine people who are committed to working to better the lives of constituents. They'll get over the scary buzzwords if you give them some hope.

A left list Muslim just won the Democratic Party in New York City. The third ranked candidate, same values, seems to have nailed around 15%. I really wish nationally this party would just cede the power to a political economy that centers the labor of the multicultural working class that is America.

he's right and he's right to say it

You know what would encourage people to get more physical activity? No, it is not wearable fitness trackers. It is: 1. A liveable wage so people have time for it 2. Safe parks and other infrastructure for such activity But that’s too hard.

When you’re more influential with the voters than a former president and a revered member of the congressional old guard

Zohran’s results so far just show how tired Americans are of the status quo, how we need creative, people-first campaigning and governance, and why positive, progressive politics are the future. Hate to get ahead of myself before results are called but I’m so freakin happy right now.

so are we going to get a parade of news stories about Mamdami being a Presidential contender or is that only for NYC mayors who are incompetent and corrupt shitbags

Can I get a hallelujah? 😇😉

In NYC, I'm anti-Mamdani. But may I say the Democratic establishment is SO pathetic? They couldn't be bothered to recruit or unite behind a better alternative than the repellent Andrew Cuomo? REALLY? In NYC, where Dem big shots live and have clout, indeed where both Dem Hill leaders are from? 🤯 🤯 🤯

Watching some of the vilest people line up to endorse cuomo because Mamdani appears to be such a threat to the status quo has been a very illuminating experience.

Mamdani should win but he's the latest example of the Democratic Party closing ranks to keep anyone young and exciting and full of energy out of the party - and then they spend countless millions on consultants trying to figure out why they're struggling with young voters
