I worry that this election obliterated the "ancestral" ndp voter for good — what reason could they possibly have to go back

raycast has hot reloading in theory but it breaks half the time so the experience actually isn't all that different

yeah, ime the only good options are copilot or something like claude code that takes over completely, haven't had any positive experiences with anything in between

just typing in an em dash gets you half the ridings in Canada haha

datacenters don't exist because all cows are now being used for computation

also inclusionary zoning, union/local sourcing requirements, the whole basket of "trying to extract 'good' things out of something that would be good in itself"

no fucking way they spell it specter

almost forgot, bonus: iv works av4 — my first custom. also punches well above its pay grade. stacked acrylic is a ridiculously nice looking material given how cheap it is

geon f1-8x 722 — finishing off strong. not much to say, geon is the goat. lowest sale price board in this thread but probably the nicest sounding & feeling. jack of all trades, absolute pleasure to type on

keycult no.1/65 — the hype kind of died with a year of delays, all for a board that was unique in 2020 but doesn't really have much to write home about in 2025. it's a really nice colour though and goes well with these keycaps

class 0413 — love the chunkiness, absolute presence. not the greatest sounding for my first electrocapacitative board, but the pairing with these keycaps more than makes up for it

werk one — my grail for nearly three years, still a bit giddy about it. gorgeous curves. one of a kind masterpiece. just don't look up how much it cost

I've been hearing this for like a decade so I'm going to remain skeptical
comment in response to post
sure, but I think there's a valid path to success in doing whatever you can to bring down the vapidity of that
comment in response to post
maybe it's just different here but the elite persuasion shtick does seem to be the primary successful route — certainly the vocal base is segregationists but they wouldn't be enough without pervasive status-quo-ism that can only be overcome by convincing the people who matter that better is possible

I'm cautiously optimistic about Ookwemin Minising after the Globe & Mail piece the other day

...does it? I can't see that Toronto has much to show for its exorbitant DCs

I think that's the "use a different client" checkbox

don't worry, Québec is doing its best to catch up

nope, her style of politics is centered on maintaining good relations with upper levels of government above all else, and pushing them in private at best more generally though, even before this, she hasn't seemed very interested in massively improving biking or transit, more status quo tinkering
comment in response to post
provincial/federal parties don't play much of a role in municipal politics — she definitely has the NDP "establishment" on her side, but it's very nebulously defined, and there isn't a ton for her to celebrate beyond electing an NDP mayor — if nothing else, a challenger could force some real policy

part tax hike, part uploading, part bonds/municipal corporations, part "funding shit when you build it and not ten years in advance"

it's annoying how good albertan cities are at civic infrastructure, the rest of the country gave up on stuff looking good like 30 years ago

replace the parking with grass and you've basically got modern barcelona superblocks or german courtyard developments timeless

I mean, sure, good design in general tends to be the exception and not the rule
