I’m starting my trip at 4am tomorrow…. (Whilst we are all complaining here)

I don’t think mine says that, but not sure. Basically I filled out flight tickets, and usually a website blocks me from entering “ö” but instead it just removed the dots and saved “o” on the ticket, which then didn’t match up with my passport. It was all fine in the end tho.

It’s great having a name that wasn’t considered 🙃🫠 I love booking plane tickets and then getting told “but that’s not your name” bc my passport spells my last name with “ö” but most booking systems either don’t save it correctly (and change it to “o”) or don’t allow it and force me to write “oe”…

In my tests, GPT-4.1 was actually quite good at programming automations. But in the end it will make mistakes like humans do, missing revering actions, confusing “and” and “or”, Just general misunderstandings, or hallucinate.

Yeah one of my points on my RAG implementation is that it needs more code examples, it’s (just like me) not able to understand the HA Docs. I’m sorry I think they are written in such confusing language and I swear I saw something and then was never able to find it again.

Thank you! I experienced the same multiple times (before and whilst) writing the thesis. I was often trying to automate something (I happen to be living in what I lovingly call “smart hell”) and then later realized “oh shit that’s not at all doing what I wanted”

Thank youuuuuu

(The focus was more the analysis of what the AI can and can’t do, there are real caveats and issues with privacy and security, as there is no real way to check if an automation will work as expected)
This was a wayyyy too long text. 😂 I have another 50 pages in German if you’re interested 😂😂😂

In it you can chat with an AI which creates the automation.
But whilst I was testing that, I realized that AIs tend to hallucinate in that task really bad. And so I tested 4 LLMs to figure out which is best and what features it needs. The LLM also has access to users entities. Here is a small demo:

I wrote about methods to create automations for smart homes. And for that I focused on bridging between humans and computer by using LLMs. Basically studies show that users kinda struggle to make an automation, but not so much with describing an automation. So I made an add on for home assistant.

You know what an orca looks like?
Yeah, like a fish but like with teeth, right?
Maybe, but the face is a bit different too I think?
Oh ok got it so fish with weird face and teeth. Got it got it.
Why is it wearing oven mitts?

This is happening Monday, right? whilst things are still happening at Apple Park… it sounded really good but I wouldn’t sign up for something on Monday sadly.

No for me it’s the clunkiness of “add song to playlist” on Apple TV.
You long press on the cover, then you scroll to “add to playlist”, select playlist, then confirm that in a popup. Oh and when long pressing the album the playback stops. So you’re doing that in silence. There must be an easier way.

As long as using the music app on atv (and iPhone tbh) isn’t the the current experience anymore… somehow all my wishes currently revolve around the music app… also: Will we ever get the old photos app back?
Totally agree on the watch, there needs to be more faces, maybe completely custom ones.

I payed 35€ for the stickers and they wanted 20€ in shipping for them to be here in time. I decided to go with free shipping and gamble that they will arrive before I leave

I ordered some stickers and they might arrive before I leave for wwdc, or maybe they won’t, we’ll see then I guess….
I hope you get yours in time! (If you end up ordering some) would love to have one of yours!

Yeah I was turning on a sketching video (those are cosy and somewhat based on the calm voice of the creator talking about their ink and drawing process) and it started with some nice music which was suddenly accompanied by a horrible grating AI voiceover.
comment in response to
post
I do not click on videos that have this “auto translated” label on them anymore bc I can’t stand the voice, I want to hear the creator, and often the translation is wrong or it translates the background music.
In the app you can turn it off video by video, but there is no general setting for it

I use Writefull which in turn uses ChatGPT I think. (At least for languages other than English) maybe the context is too long otherwise?

The AI that does my spellchecking does offer that function 😂
I liked the explanation @typ0genius.com posted, so I’m going with that!
