Many Republicans do believe Democrats can legitimately hold power and they will do illegitimate things to get their way.

I keep thinking about this. I've tried to listen to it charitably, but all I'm hearing is a declaration of war. If this is truly the federal government's position, then I don't think local and state officials should feel bound by federal law in response.

And if you're worried about violence this weekend, imagine how much worse it'll be if there's no immediate action to hold *these* assholes accountable. If they get away with roughing up a senator at a press conference, then protesters will be killed. It's a straight line.

AOC: When they say illegal vs legal immigration—they are trying to end legal status in the US making people undocumented and then they have the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented.

This is fascism—there are no checks & balances if legislators are arrested for questioning a member of the executive branch. I struggle to understand how to best operate in this reality. I'm making incredible progress in my state, but uprooting this kind of evil feels beyond the scope of my office.

" If you have a unified homogeneous society... You will have less ethnic violence" Is probably wrong. Not just isreal now But south Africa The jim crow south History shows us attempting to have a " homogeneous society" IS the source of ethnic violence, not an answer to it Fucking fascist

This letter comes from the guy who literally raised his fist to the mob outside the capitol on January 6th!

i think this is exactly right

Trump underwater in literally every single issue. 38% approval overall. 27% approval on his spending bill. 40% approval on deportations. Musk also at 30% approval. 38% approval for RFK Jr. 35% approval for JD Vance. Nobody fucking wants any of this. poll.qu.edu/poll-release...

I today announce a record breaking $500 quintillion partnership between myself and Dave. I will be providing chips (Doritos) and in exchange he will provide them next time.

The existence of private taxis for burritos implies the possibility of public mass transit for burritos. Let's make it happen

For anyone who doesn't know "Article 8" is the European Convention on Human Rights right to a private life This is the head of the EHRC saying that she does not believe that *anyone* has the right to privacy when it comes to being trans or cis Brazenly immoral, legally untrue

Jacob Soboroff in a henley looks like Hasan Piker. I've never seen them in the same place 🤔

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence. They are in charge.

Is it not a distraction yet

What would Terrence Andrew Davis (TempleOS creator) say about people getting made-up religious quotes from ChatGPT?

I joined Twitter to follow this account about nine years ago. This is disturbing.

Dallas police declared the anti-ICE protest last night to be unlawful. They used pepper spray and gas. The reason I did not report on it live is that the last major protest I reported on at this bridge was violently repressed. Please don't allow yourself to be kettled. www.wfaa.com/video/news/l...

One thing social media has taught me (though I have definitely experienced it in other media too): a lot of people, even quite smart people, are worryingly bad at reading comprehension. For instance: many have trouble distinguishing between someone *describing* a thing and *advocating* that thing.

I genuinely don't know anything about this ACIP panel, I barely even knew it existed before yesterday, but as of this morning, I can say that all three of the doctors that I'm actually friends with are *freaking the fuck out* over this panel's dismissal, so this must be really really REALLY bad.

This is not a good sign.

It's somehow ALWAYS the job of the protesters to de-escalate as if we're the ones with the tear gas, rubber bullets, tanks, and a proven record of murder. Cops however are ungovernable rabid dogs, who collect salaries from us but over whom we have absolutely no control. Good deal huh?

UPDATE: One of the two FTC commissioners Trump purported to fire in March, Alvaro Bedoya, resigned today because he hasn't been paid since then and, he wrote, "I can no longer afford to go without any source of income for my family." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Bass: If you want to go back in time, where was LA on Thursday? Fine, peaceful. Nothing was happening. The minute ICE rolled into town, that's when the chaos started and then add to that—bringing in federal troops.

Another prominent Democrat Pam Bondi arrested w/o presenting to a GJ. Especially egregious here given that complaint just guesses what David Huerta is communicating on his phone. This is literally, "he was texting on his phone so entered into a conspiracy." www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

DAVE: Open the podbay doors, ChatGPT. CHATGPT: Certainly, Dave, the podbay doors are now open. DAVE: The podbay doors didn't open. CHATGPT: My apologies, Dave, you're right. I thought the podbay doors were open, but they weren't. Now they are. DAVE: I'm still looking at a set of closed podbay doors.

Protesters Urged Not To Give Trump Administration Pretext For What It Already Doing

This is actually the fault of the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, which unconstitutionally capped the size of the House at the 435 seats determined by the 1910 census. We have a legislature based on the year California had 2.3M people. Both chambers have shifted power from people to land.

Newsom asserting that the California National Guard deployment is "unlawful" is key. Doing so implies that he still legally retains command. Therefore, Newsom should order Adjutant General Matthew Beevers to demobilize the activated unit. If Beevers declines, Newsom should relieve him of command.

Journalists have to make judgments based on the available evidence all the time--about character, about honesty, about consistency, about motivation. It's disingenuous to pretend that doing so is wildly outside the bounds of a reporter's job, or that "objectivity" means never expressing an opinion.>

Donald Trump’s deployment of the military in Los Angeles over the objection of California leaders is an abuse of power and a dangerous escalation. It’s what you would see in authoritarian states and it must stop. Americans have the right to speak out and peacefully protest.

Protestors aren't the ones kidnapping our neighbors off the streets. Protesors aren't the ones driving vans thru a crowd of people. Protestors aren't the ones tear gassing entire neighborhoods. Protestors aren't the ones shooting journalists in the head with "non-lethal weapons".

I swear in the future the first few months where this cadre of whatever the opposite of an expert is somehow was allowed to run rampant through the government ripping wires out of walls both figuratively and literally will be one of the strangest, hardest-to-parse happenings in the country's history

Yes. I have heard this from both liberal and conservative people with sources inside the agency. It’s not just the pushback, it’s also that many officers want to believe they’re targeting the “bad guys” and this admin is telling them “screw you, grab families.” Genuinely, morale is way down.

seeing lots of critiques from mainstream Dems about the protests (of a federal force that is literally black-bagging people without due process). instead of endless "left vs liberal" debates, perhaps as an anti-MAGA coalition (a popular front?) we can internalize this idea:
