I suppose we can't know the harm done to men put off by the threat of a DRE either? BAUS and PCUK pretty clear the evidence shows DRE isn't of use and scrapping would save lives. Your point about MRI scans is of course spot on. We are woefully behind on scanners.

@shaunlintern.bsky.social very good points made - but all GPs have direct and indirect experience of localised prostate cancers with normal PSA results being detected by a rectal exam. And the elephant in the room is the national shortage of MRI scanners to follow up abnormal PSA results.'

The harm they have caused over 14 years is unreal.
Children have actually gotten smaller , and life expectancy is reversing.
And Truss....
Her name should be associated with economic hardship for the great British public in perpetuity

FFS.
The art of healing is integrally human - direct contact with an actual human is why people react so well to nurses and doctors.
There is a qualitative dimension to healthcare that only the most cynical could discount.

Agree with No 1 💯
The Discworld series taught me so much about how to be a better human being, and to at least try to be decent, kind and respectful, more than any other "authority".
There is a term I will steal and paraphrase regarding STP's - Discworld - "Militant Decency"

Public Health England was literally waiting in the wings to roll out Covid test and trace services across the country, people by clinicians and support workers who have spent their careers doing t&t albeit on a smaller scale - but the work was given, at enormous cost, to private providers...

You are treated with far, far more respect and also as an adult whilst you are at 6th form than as a resident dr.
The NHS is great for patients, in principle, but is an appalling employer for far too many clinical staff.

Evil. There is no other word to describe this abominable treatment of a child.

We did. Heaven forbid people doing a necessary job should be paid appropriately for it.
The public sector kept things running during COVID.

Ahh.
The old argument of of "off you go then". And "Replaced in a heartbeat".
I have given you ample opportunity to construct a coherent arguement, but it would seem to be beyond you.
Good luck with your Physicians Assistant led care in 5 years time.
Blocked.

Not many UK doctors want to go to the US.
Quite frankly, you will get what you pay for, and if the UK is not willing to pay clinicians properly, then they will be well within their right to look elsewhere- either outside of the NHS or the UK.

I also see you are unable to construct a reasoned argument.

I could literally walk into a job in Canada or NZ for 1.5-3x the salary and be there within 6 months.
Could you?
And I am very, very tempted, and attitudes like yours (and you claim to be a Lib Dem) and others like do nothing to make me want to stick around in this country.

And the non ministerial MP salary is £93,904, with 11% pension contributions.
So approximately £83,570 per year.
Plus expenses.
So it's not the £50 discrepancy you initially stated.

Exactly- we have all been subsidising the NHS with below inflationary pay awards.
We should not fall into the trap of being divided and conquered, we are far better off supporting one another than not.
