What does it cost? It costs money and time. You're saying it's worth those costs because it offsets the bad things. I agree. That's why we should do it, because of the bad things. The post Hank is criticizing says, it doesn't matter if the bad things exist. The bad things are vitally important.

Maybe I'm reading it differently, I don't think Hank is saying it's evil. Just that it's bad rhetoric. Why use a weak argument when there are much better ones.

But, that's not what the OP says. It's saying it doesn't matter if you have cancer, you should still get treatment for cancer. The point is climate change is cancer and we need to act because of that threat, even if it means we're going to lose our hair for a while, and feel nauseous for months.

That only works if you accept the premise that the surgery will save your life. Just because you don't die from the surgery doesn't make it OK for a doctor to lie to you about a life threatening disease you don't have. Surgery carries risks, why take those risks if there is no danger.

This comic only works because it accepts the premise that climate change is real and causes harm. Which is true, but the OP says that premise is irrelevant. You're now trying to convince that businessman to make changes that lower his revenue with no discernible benefit.

But there are costs. If climate change wasn't real, that changes the balance of the various costs we as a society have to weigh out. The reality of climate change means that there are huge costs to us for burning carbon-based fuel for energy.

I had a slightly different angle on that shot from the far north side. I dig the wider angle lens.

Thanks, like most of my sunrise/sunsets it's an HDR composite from a 5 stop bracket. So I can recover my shadows on the ground from my longer exposures, and the highlights in the sky from the shortest exposures.
