I know the solution is to care less, and eventually I will, but right now it is driving me batty.

Reading this first thing this morning I was so confused as to what the bit was with pep talk for the new pope, and that's how I found out Pope Francis had died. So, sign up for That's Marvelous, and you too can find out world events while squinting at your phone going "where's he going with this?"

I didn't intend to criticize Brother as a brand, but my specific machine is a budget friendly under $100 model, clearly not meant for what I am trying to do! And yeah I am feeling the workout in my forearms (and hands) today.

That's a good tip! I have gone a step further and removed batting altogether for this quilt (it's backed with a minky fabric and meant for summer use) and still struggle town. I frontloaded the bulkiest bit, so it should go smoother today.

I know this is beside the point, but when was the last time someone did a clip show (in American television)? I remember Community making a fake one (paradigms of human memory), but I can't recall the last actual example.

In the name of "government efficiency" they are throwing up more bureaucratic barriers. The intent is for poor people to fall through the cracks. They're also trying to eliminate trans people through eliminating access to trans healthcare. This is open for public comment right now.

These changes remove trans health care as an essential health benefit, remove DACA recipients from being eligible, shorten open enrollment by 30 days, make it harder to verify income for eligibility, and stop extensions to resolve inconsistencies. It is designed to prevent people from getting care.

When it's strong I quilt because I want to put that anger (which is usually sadness or grief in a trench coat) into building something beautiful. I also mail letters to a friend. Writing a letter helps me shape my thoughts and leads me to "all of that is true, but now what?" Which is better.

I was a college student. I wore lightly baggy cargo pants (too long, frayed hems), a series of collared fitted polo-type shirts with chucks on my feet. I had long hair so I wore kerchiefs a lot. If I were going out, I had peasant tops I paired with dress slacks and thick platform sandals.

Our snacks are out on the counter to stop my cycle of: I'm hungry/sighing at open fridge b/c making food is too much/closing fridge/realizing [loop repeats] Do I sometimes eat meals of wasabi edamame and vegan jerky, yes. Is that better than not eating, also yes.
I hope you find what works for you.

Wow, I haven't read this since I was a kid but the second I saw the cover I said out loud "hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats."
I wanted a cat as a kid so badly (very allergic).

You know who reads local newspapers? Your local government officials (City councilmembers) and local government workers. I work for a county and we absolutely read the local paper and talk about it. It can influence policy!

Yesterday afternoon was really hard. Today I am working on reviewing grant applications for federal funds the county was promised that may or may not be coming. It's...pretty demoralizing. I am only getting work done by thinking maybe if I keep doing this I can -will- these into happening.
