Political cowardice comes in many forms.

Always the same.

We don’t want lower taxes, we want a better city. It’s literally in your name.

The reporting on the BC Ferries contract award is verging on journalistic malpractice. So many stories calling out the government for not building them in BC or Canada, and just glossing over the fact that there were no bids from Canadian shipyards. [1/2]

A bunch of friends were excited about a new restaurant in town. That is, until they realized the entire website’s assets, including photos of the food, were AI generated. AI is a tempting shortcut, but used poorly, it devalues your brand and sells your business short.

One day, I will have this.

It shouldn’t be such a luxury, but it sure is nice to have a chief city planner that gets it, and is willing to say it publicly.

I’m glad the Broadway and Commercial proposal passed finally. It was also a good test to know that COPE and the Greens can be crossed off from any united housing front.

A senior project manager for civil works recently said “regulations and regulators consider the cost of inaction to be zero”. That really is the heart of the problem: doing something is often in the best interest of society, our regulatory environment has been designed to default to the status quo.
