There's a closet near the machines that has bags with more. Maybe they were in between refills? I saw them refill the machine about 6 times in about 20 minutes at Shibuya a couple days ago.

Also, don't ask to trade with people in front of the employee at the machine. They WILL yell at you.

You can buy them at any Nintendo store in Japan. 600 yen per, but it's a gachapon (random capsule) so no guarantee to get what you want. I got 5/6 in the first 10 pulls, but did another 10 to get the GameCube buttons.

Series 1 had just the OG NES controller split into 3 parts, and the original Famicom controller split into 3 parts.

In series 2, there are SNES buttons (light purple, dark purple), Super Famicom buttons (red, yellow, blue,green), N64 control stick, N64 buttons, GameCube c-stick, and GameCube buttons. They're are no shoulder buttons.
