I worked 1 full time and often part time from age 19 to retirement at age 67-I continue to work contingent. I paid into SS with every paycheck.
But ya-go ahead-have a 79+ year old RN get up up to the bathroom next time you are hospitalized-

Oncology nurse here-have had many a cancer patient with jobs-with no benefits or lose their healthcare when no longer able to be self-employed. Many in treatments so brutal can’t work
Medicaid expansion (Healthy Michigan in my state) was a godsend.

how many “free clinics” = 1 closed rural hospital? Will there be lab and radiology? What about speech/PT/OT? And are the staff at the “free clinic” to work for free?

HIPAA prevents me from saying too much but i can immediately bring to mind 3 head and neck cancer patients-all employed full time-no health insurance. All benefitted from Medicaid expansion.

Which got me to thinking-we should be doing this in front of every ICE detention Center, office, Immigration court-silently hold your candle and the photo of someone disappeared without due process. Or if during the day, a rally to say their name, tell their story.

I hope we call this out for the heinous act it is-peacefully, stridently, we need to be clever but blunt in our response but DO NOT give this administration a thinnest reason to declare martial law-which you know they want more than anything. Don’t take the bait.
