Firstly, demonstrators are almost never arrested. They are detained. Distinction?
Arrest = probable cause you committed a crime, longer detention time. More severe.
Detainment = your movement/activity is being stopped to inhibit continuation of unlawful behavior and to issue ticket/summons for it.
