I have no personal interest in genAI. My experience with genAI for business use has been lackluster, and there's no way I'd be able to download to my work computer. I don't have TikTok, I won't have DeepSeek.

I didn't know that. Thank you. It remains that you would either need to get updates or live with outdated training. And I don't trust any software to be completely local. The risk is larger for an AI model than a silly video app.

Due to the freeze on credit card use, my laboratory (in the FDA) risks losing the contents of our liquid nitrogen tanks which store INVALUABLE samples-they cannot be replaced, so they are literally priceless, and reflect about 50 years worth of research.

To be fair, there might be a plausible security risk reason not to use a Chinese AI. There remains no plausible reason for banning TikTok.
