Man, it's like my house was on fire and nobody cared, but then the fire department came - hooray! - only to shoot my wife and children and even my dog, then pour gas on the fire. Golly gee, fellows, that's not why I called you, really...

I guess the best spin you could put on this is that the other countries called him up and said, here's what we are willing to do, and he fell for it.
Would that make any of us feel better? Or would an Occam's Razor explanation (he's lying again) be more accurate?

They are. But I would add that a "right" that doesn't apply to all human beings really isn't right.

I try to guard against knee jerk opposition to ANY thing Trump does, but it's impossible to deny the possibility, isn't it? Maybe it would take two (2) Trump Towers...

It's funny because it's true. They're not trying to conceal anything. They're breaking the law openly and brazenly and sneering publicly, "whaddya gonna do about, losers?"
Up to this point, my guess re the Legislative branches is...nothing?

Many businesses will raise their prices even if they are unaffected by tariffs. The tariffs give them cover to do so.

Yes. It's a shame, but completely predictable.

Just looking at that picture, I imagine him as Tom Homan's "Good" twin.

Heh. I'm glad that wasn't too deep for me. I bet it would go right over Trump's head. In fact, I think he would thank you for the compliment.

Yes. I think this kind of thing will be the death of AI as a truly reliable research tool.

Funny on at least two levels.
1. Did the poor billionaire have tears in his eyes?
2. As if a billionaire gives a shit about drug prices.
Oh, wait...
3. The completely believable idea that Trump hears the "poor me" cries from the rich...and feels the need to take action.🤪

Life is certainly a journey, but competition is a part of that. I like this snippet from Leonard Cohen's The Old Revolution:
I finally broke into the prison,
I found my place in the chain

Have you ever struggled to stay awake in some meetings where you weren't necessarily the centre of attention? I mean...while attending a funeral or a wedding or a sales meeting? It's pretty tough, especially if you are a busy person, there only because it is politic to be there.

Unless falling asleep is extremely common and occurs in particularly important meetings, this is just a bullshit piece of outrage...not particularly by Ken Klippenstein, but just in general.

Seems pretty clear that costs to USA consumers could be significantly lessened by closing tax loopholes to Big Pharma companies and then using those funds to provide rebates.
Seems about right...

Remember Vonage? Way, way back when...I complained about poor sound quality. Their rep responded by fixing everything and then offering a 50% discount. Before we disconnected, he improved it to an 80% discount. I never even asked for a discount.
Interesting. And where is Vonage now?

Scott Jennings is exhibit #1 of how CNN wastes everyone's time with these ridiculous roundtable discussions that are set up to have a bunch of people talking over each other to no conclusion. Individual interviews might be of some use, but I guess CNN thinks this crap drives increased ratings...?

The sad thing here is that this post & repost could easily apply to at least five things a day in the world of Trump.

Every time I see one of these open to the press meetings at the White House, I can't help but think of what a useless Dog & Pony show it is.
Was amusing, though, to see Trump speak interminably, apparently forgetting that Carney was even in the room.

Hank Johnson...but he was kidding, right?
If he was kidding, it's funny. If he was serious, it's unfathomably hilarious.

I remember.
You know, Arte (Johnson) was a favorite for crossword makers. But unfortunately, I never saw Buzzi in a crossword puzzle.
I'm feeling pretty old today. Well, lately I always do.

Not to mention that Trump and the rest of the MAGA enabled would also have their private information put in Musk's hands. They okay with that?

Evidence of wrongdoing isn't the point of a secure system. The point of a secure system is to prevent the temptation of abusing access, or to prevent even the possibility.
Who the hell would trust Elon Musk with their private data?

From the article:
An appeals court majority refused to lift the block on DOGE access, though it split along ideological lines. Conservative judges said there’s no evidence that the team has done any “targeted snooping” or exposed personal information.
Ridiculous argument.

Interesting that Trump detractors and Trump admirers both recognize and use the term, "Bend the knee." What's interesting is that Trump admirers seem to like the idea.
Apparently, to them, subservience has a kind of perverted appeal.

I'm against Poilievre only because he appeals to the worst of us, the culture war ethos of targeting minorities. I hear the dog whistles. Even if I liked his "policies" I would never support anyone who embraces cultural xenophobia.
comment in response to

Poilievre is claiming that only the exit of Trudeau cost him a victory. That was part of it.
But the truth is that he sought to become Prime Minister by riding the coattails of Donald Trump style politics. When the Trump brand became poisonous, his own chances justifiably nosedived.

Yes. Civics classes should be required in all schools. I know I would emphasize an understanding of the Constitution, with particular emphasis on Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion (which is also Freedom FROM Religion; never forget that). And the history of the fight for those freedoms.

I like the sentiment, but...frankly, there are millions of jerks just like Donald Trump. The only problem here is that this particular jerk somehow managed to gain control of the most powerful country on earth.
