Just one: Katherine Johnson (though Sarah Vaughan was her boss early in her career).
I'm glad Hidden Figures exists, but I kind of wish it has been a straight documentary as their real lives are even more interesting!

Great piece, and I commented at the article proper.

Oh that's great. I suspect Carlsbad sucked the oxygen—5-10K folks there (including this Vistan).

We routinely feed the crows peanuts on our walks. It's all fun and games until a murder happens.
And then it's extra cute.

And if it doesn't make *you* happy, it will, at least make *me* happy. (But it will probably make you happy.)

That's terrific! Your DMs are off, but we should chat. :)
This is my site: galacticjourney.org One of our team is going to review Benford's first novel (not favorably—it's not good) in a few days. :)
[Benford knew it was bad, too—he fixed it and republished it a decade later]

Yeah, it was exhilarating watching the tide come in. We had gone to the May Day protest with 600 people, so we knew early on this was blowing that out of the water.

Oh excellent. That is encouraging. All we could see was our end of things.
Thank you for coming, and see you at the next one!

When did we hit Cannon? At 10:20, we hadn't made it halfway to Tamarack.
(This is not meant as a challenge—just our observation. We camped out north of Tamarack to rally the protestors with songs, chants, and a Declaration of Independence reading)

Ugh. Those all add up to less than 3m :(
San Diego County got to ~2% though.
comment in response to

I don't think it was ten thousand, but for sure at least 3K. Maybe 5K, especially if you count the drivers.
comment in response to

3.5% for the County would be 125K. I know Carlsbad's protest today pulled in at least 3K, maybe 5K. San Marcos' was small—only a few hundred. I don't have details on the rest.

Mike Newton is a friend of ours. 35 years ago, my bro was playing Dungeon Master, and Mike popped up behind him and observed, "Oh, this is a tricky part."
My brother said it was like God had tapped him on the shoulder.

Was the Apollo 13 disaster the proximate cause of Apollos 18 and 19 ending up on the block?

Oh thank you. I thought that was what NASA was requesting, not what Trump was proposing. If the latter, I actually have some confidence that the cuts won't happen as planned.

It's my understanding NASA *asked* for these things:
