This is amazing. When I was a teacher I would never let a year pass without reading 'ivan' to my 10/11 year olds. "Mighty silverback" became a cebratory phrase for when pupils made breakthroughs. My daughter is 8 and we are just starting to share bigger novels. Ivan is next in line. I can't wait.

When I was a teacher, Varjak Paw inspired 3 girls who were excellent 'readers for understanding' but not 'readers for pleasure.' We adored it. I bumped into one of them recently and reading this book was one of her happiest school memories. She is an avid reader to this day. Thank you.
