I also have an underlying genetic connective tissue disorder & multiple medical issues. I gave the gynae a written breakdown of this, and I know now that she should never have proceeded. My new GP surgery is very understanding of the issue, but unhappy I will not submit to future smears.

It's also not just money, it's time. The gynae was running an hour late and my appointment was 9.30am. It was a conveyor belt of female pain. The women before me collapsed and had to be wheeled off. They gave her 2 paracetamol. They were playing catch up by the time they got me in, so no time for meds

My male GP told me I'd overreacted. He is no longer my GP. My cardiologist was so concerned by my reaction to the experience she arranged physiological support, bc I was refusing to go to hospital for cardiac issues, as it involved being physically touched. (1)

You got a GA? For hysteroscopy, they send a knitting needle sized camera / biopsy taker up through the vagina into the uterus, where they carved out samples with no anaesthetic, while wide awake.
They only stopped mine when I vomited on the nurse in pain. It failed. I have medical PTSD now.

Women don't get informed consent or painkillers. They're on a treadmill where you are seen as a breeding box on legs.

I've had a very similar experience. They were supposed to be looking for a bladder prolapse. Instead, I had the most excruciating and humiliating experience of my life. Left with medical ptsd as a result & refuse all internal examinations now.

I'm a bit bewildered by what they want me do, as the work part of DWP has certified me unfit to ever return to work, or take part in work seeking programs. They pay my NI towards a pension I won't ever draw, as I won't make 67.

Burial. I've read a few too many books by morticians to burn. Woodland burials are available where I live. My dad opted for cremation, I took his ashes to the red kite valley he loved and scattered him under their watchful eye.
Also, I believe the RNLI will scattered ashes at sea for people.

Yeah. As someone dependent on PIP, I'm about to get royally shafted for the crime of a genetic disorder the NHS can't treat.

People used to query the purpose of us supporting these groups, but reading the article articulates exactly why we funded them. Beautiful recollections.

When I was a grant program manager, much of what I did at the lower level of funding was to support pigeon clubs evolve using new technology for racing, enabling them to keep competing. It's an absolute religion in the NE. Will check out the book, thank you for signposting.

Half a sausage almost defeated him. Almost. My dog was livid he got there first.

Mmmmm scones! The pigeon would have eaten them too, rather than wrestling with half a sausage.

Think it was a homing pigeon. It was double ringed and unafraid of both humans and dogs.

Halloween is my wedding anniversary. Many spent in Whitby. Usually in a cottage. Hotel is a new experience, and a good one.
I’m at the coast near Newcastle

We were watching the ghost walk chap from our window, he looked great! I've been to Whitby a lot for goth weekend and short breaks. The Dracula Museum is so bad it's hilarious 😂
