with, which is why I gave up my 25 year involvement with them in 2020. When they stated they wouldn’t endorse any candidate in the general election other than Bernie (including Warren), I felt it didn’t align with my values anymore.I empathize with your frustration on USAID, but am not surprised 💙.

to organize offensively than defensively. Essentially, ideological purity took over the DSA and it effectively became an accelerationist organization, i.e. it’s better if the worst candidates get elected, because it will push us to revolution faster. Practically, it’s made DSA impossible to work 5/

This had the effect of making DSA incapable of coalition building & making strategic decisions that would allow for organizing for socialism within capitalism. E.g., understanding it’s better to elect Dems who aren’t great, but who won’t dismantle Roe, the EPA, the NLRB etc., because it’s better 4/

of internal sexual assault and the latter for a collective frustration of its leadership at advancing its goals. Anyway, cadre in both of these orgs made the decision to capitalize on the renewed interest in socialism with the election of AOC and her support of DSA by trying to take over the DSA 3/

very unlikely to spring into revolutionary fervor immediately. Within a few months in 2019, two Trotskyist organizations (the wild eyed people selling newspapers at every protest and screaming of the futility of the very same protest) disbanded: the ISO and Solidarity. The former for its handling 2/

Let me tell you my theory of how the DSA became a mockery of what it was created to be and was under Michael Harrington: a non-sectarian organization for reasonable people to advocate for socialism in a principled way, while allowing for gradual & immediate help in a capitalist society that was 1/

What I love is that my parents forbade me from even entering video arcades, which is weird because they were super permissive with other media. Worked much the same as DARE campaigns, in that when I wanted to buy drugs the first time, i headed straight for the local arcade. Weed, LSD, all there.

This isn’t the take you think it is. US cars are great these days. And US autoworkers should be celebrated. The truth is there are more cars made in the US today than ever. Most of those cars he talks about are assembled here. Too many are non-union, but that’s the fight.
