To round off a fabulous day at Alibis 2025, Shelly Dickson Carr gave us a brilliant talk remembering her grandfather, crime writing legend John Dickson Carr. Our Reading Rooms have even been given the Dickson Carr seal of approval, as Shelly thinks her grandfather would have loved them!

Following a break for lunch and a chance to look at a display of items from the Crime Writers' Association Archive, we are back in the Reading Rooms for our afternoon talks. First up, Christina Koning is taking us on a virtual tour of Cambridge through crime fiction!

We hear from many authors at Alibis, but our next talk lifted the curtain on the publishing side of crime fiction. We are thrilled to have John Lee from British Library Publishing in conversation with Martin Edwards, giving us an insider view of publishing the British Library Crime Classics series.

After a break for tea, John Curran returns to the stage for his second presentation, this time on The Collins Crime Club. What a wonderful run through the history of Collins crime publishing, and we especially loved seeing all the incredible book covers!

Moving seamlessly into our second talk of Alibis 2025, we welcomed John Curran to the stage. John has meticulously studied 73 of Agatha Christie's secret notebooks, and his talk gave us all a fascinating insight into the writing process of the Queen of Crime herself.
