Love the Murphy 93 quote and citation. Others may know more of the intent and context from the 90s but I've adapted the paper to ask more broadly - what makes a good model? "Predictive" analytics are still buzzy and signals may be true or false, but communicating uncertainty goes a long way.

Well, Jared, I appreciate your comments and call to attention on this issue, but rainfall frequency does not equate to flood frequency. A 1:1000 rain event does not mean it was a 1:1000 flood for myriad reasons. Happy to unpack this more - just briefed this in Asheville.
