Your numbers are out of date: "Most cold-climate heat pumps can run at total capacity until the outdoor temperature gets to about 5 F or below." So yes, hybrids can be needed in cold climates, but are not needed unless it is very cold indeed. yaleclimateconnections.org/2023/03/do-h...

the press isn't telling the public that federal corporate oversight no longer functions, so most of the public is walking around not really prepared for the concussive, systemic failures that are coming for systems they routinely take for granted

I think (and it is just my opinion) Colbert is intentionally asking the question as if he were a poorly-informed voter in order to give Mamdani a chance to use the platform to respond to such voters. If Colbert framed the question as such, it might close minds before the answer. It's a choice.

I'm writing this post in high dudgeon because what the Court endorsed today is unamerican and contemptuous not just of the role of the judiciary but also of the responsibility we have as a nation to those in our custody and those we subject to punishment.
I'm mad as hell. You should be too.

As explained in this piece, there is not one “Starship” because Elon mucks around with the design
All the successful tests were of Starship Block 1, which they discontinued bc it failed to meet tonnage requirements. The larger Block 2 has never worked

Should we deport people who have lived here for many years without committing any crimes? 61% no, 24% yes.
Should we should deport people as quickly as possible even if it means more mistakes, or do our best to make no mistakes even if it takes longer?
Quickly: 19%
Minimize mistakes: 74%
