came to the conclusion that this is currently the most valuable thing I can independently contribute. the goals was to turn the very likely scenario of me asking everyone lots of questions into something more than just MY understanding: yours too! super excited! stay tuned!

day 60: travel time! spend the last couple of days finalizing my plan for the retreat. I will mainly focus on improving documentation and hopefully contribute some new tutorials too! but: staying open to the possibility of doing something completely different too, if opportunities arise.

😅😂 ultramarathons are crazy. especially when you realize how much it costs to actually participate in one. and then the actual part of "doing" one.

apart from that i made progress with my lil #anki importer program. next step will be setting up the REST connection to anki itself.

everything is still kind of new and a little inconvenient since this of cause requires me to rethink some parts of my setup. but i am happy moving away from #apple incredible products, but incredible lock-in and opinionated/closed environment.

day 55: finally made the switch from macOS to #linux as my primary OS. lot's of setup action the last couple of days: audio problems (mandatory, of cause), package manager investigations and a lot more.

incredible projects for sure! very surprised by the first and the last project - very happy to seem them at that stage!!! (yes, a cliffhanger for you, the casual scroller 😉)

but it seemed like fun. when i have it running, i may transform this into a web service using #mirageOS. meanwhile i am also switching to #linux as my primary OS. fun times!

day 47: lost a bit of a clear roadmap how exactly i want to spend the rest of my available prep time. chose to dive into a lil side project. I am currently writing a small #ocaml program to transform some vocabluary translations and push them into #anki. already wrote something similar a while ago,

day 41: spend the last couple of days going through the example projects within the github.com/mirage/mirag... repo. super interesting stuff! stumbled upon lot's of interesting new stuff and gave myself room to be driven by my sole curiosity here. the "device-usage/block" one was super fun!

don't have a problem with that in general, but then want to see a transparent audit. none of this has to be a concern though, if you just intend to use the browser version... also asked the tuta team directly about it here: bsky.app/profile/gm0s...

also recently found out about them - very nice first impression. haven't been able to resolve my fundamental trust issues regarding their custom email clients though. you can not use generic smtp/imap clients to access your account, because of they implemented some custom auth/encryption stuff...

day 36: finally running mirageOS kernels! what a journey so far! still have lot's of knowledge gaps preventing the feeling of "i can now go on my own", but slowly getting there. been jumping between regular ocaml exercises and the mirageOS "getting started" guide lately.
