Went on a quick road trip to get some footage for an upcoming episode and stopped at Ableman’s Gorge near Baraboo WI. I was always impressed by these 1.7 billion year old ripples preserved in quartzite that are now a vertical wall. They were one of my early exposures to geology and deep time.

Another creator that uses Minecraft to talk about his profession is Daskalos, an archeologist. He unearthed trail ruins as if it was real life and converted it into a museum. I was on his server to chat and explore. It was great to see them through the eyes of a professional youtu.be/L6XNPa6-7vA?...

I don't have an experience with light casting methods but I made a video about ray casting in vanilla Minecraft. I did all the math external but I talked to Conure and he made a datapack that does ray casting all internal to the game. youtu.be/EeokZbMiw0k?... youtu.be/n4WBFiZfsfY?...

I was very pleased to be able to share my latest Snowy Stronghold with @gneiss.name, McMakistein, and @couriway.bsky.social! Check it out and see how they did! youtu.be/Taq209RAaV8?...

I’m writing all the thank you cards for the gneiss boxes and it’s giving me flashbacks to studying for spelling test writing the words over and over. It didn’t help, I’m still miserable at spelling.

Hey Everyone! If you bought a Gneiss Box and didn't tell me the shirt size in the message, I need to know that. You have an email from me, please reply.

While working on the geologic timeline project I was scaling Minecraft mobs to more appropriate sizes and it reminded me of a paper that quantified all of Earth's biomass, so I remade the figures in game. Yes I know starfish are not cnidarians. youtu.be/hXDZ2LTTKUE?...

Troubleshooting an issue with our isotope ratio mass spec today. It’s always fun to see things that look like science fiction when you are doing science fact.

@kanokarob.bsky.social Finished up another biome specific strong hold and was lucky enough to try it out with McMakistein. This ones jungle themed with lots of traps and puzzles. I'm really looking forward to the release of this pack! youtu.be/BjV64u3LLHI?...

I did and interview with The Loosest of Gooses. Part two was just released and it primarily deals with the Geologic Timeline Project. Part one mostly dealt with color theory and building. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmEq...

Gneiss: The stone god of color space Silly painting based on the excellent new video on mean shift clustering by @gneiss.name

My search for a reliable method for determining dominant colors is complete. A few months ago I was going to make a shorter video that was basically the first half of this but then I learning about mean shift and that changed everything. youtu.be/HuW9qJbL0xM

Ok, listen, I’m not that good at remembering or caring to promote my own stuff and I should have posted that I was going to do this before I actually did it and caught that my bitrate was set to potato, but here is the vod anyway. Gneiss Tries Vintage Story youtube.com/live/ROrBD1-...

My youngest daughter really takes after me.

Most of my Minecraft time is spent making my other videos but I still look forward to playing survival and I took some time to over break to catch up on some things in my family’s survival world. The Stave Church youtu.be/xUOYSBvDyqk

My new office light switch. It was made by the Wurdack Electrical Manufacturing Company and rated for 250V and 60 A. It only has 12V on it now to close a relay for the office light. I’m not sure how old it actually is, if anyone has an idea, let me know. #knifeswitch #normallightswitches

To celebrate 100k subs on YouTube I decided to replace a light switch. #knifeswitch youtu.be/5r6_sH1YI4Q?...

Look at what arrived in the mail today! I’m not really sure what I expected when I started doing this stuff but it’s all been incredibly enjoyable. I have plans for a lot more things in the future and I appreciate everyone that has watched and supported me over the last few years.

I spent new years day grinding out this build in my survival world. I am normally stuck in cool palettes when I build and I wanted to try something warmer. I'm happy with the results and its now the new house for the town clerics.

The latest Biome Strongholds video is now live, featuring the Ocean Stronghold! Thank you @gneissname.bsky.social and Makistein for helping me with this one! youtu.be/ubOXv9XAaCc

If you never wondered what my singing voice was, but now you are curious? You are in luck! My friend Edee is making a shorts series for the 12 days of Minecraft. I make my debut in today's video, day 8, and the ones to come. youtube.com/shorts/3QU9p...

Been working on this episode for a while now. Its an in depth look at Iron ore in Minecraft and in reality. Feels great to have it out! #geology #minecraft youtu.be/OfHLsqaHJoo

Finished up the last display for the iron ore episode. Time to start recording! #minecraft #geology

I’m working on an iron ore episode and I cut a cube from a 2.7 billion year old banded iron formation. It’s my new favorite thing and barely left my hand since I cut it. #minecraft #geology #bif

I did a video with Amos Redstone discussing some interesting ideas for renewable gravel and sand by adding weathering mechanics into the game. youtu.be/AwkgAM9c7M8?... #minecraft #geology
