Gotcha! I'm definitely a "start on firm ground, get a mechanical core, then build toward ambition" type of designer.

"as a designer" is interesting, I'm not sure how the idealistic<>jaded spectrum plays out there?

Pros: Super evocative for FF fans. Job Select is a blast. Black Mage's Rod is my favorite limited common in a long time Cons: The power level is SO HIGH. You miss a land drop or spend your removal on the wrong threat and you can just get run over. The bombs just feel too pushed.

The decks of the final two being guaranteed Burn vs Prowess because of the bracket structure is pretty funny

My primer episode *does* have a transcript, at least on Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/4DJc...

This is my area of expertise, this is the article I would recommend, since my primer is audio (a podcast) luckypaper.co/articles/pul... Happy to answer any questions you have!

Oh you spent your removal on a flier? Idiot, now this Mythic solos you. Oh you missed a land drop? Idiot, your opponents curve perfectly. Oh you had to mulligan? That's rough buddy, better luck next draft.

Take all basics out of the public/drafted 81 card pool, and seed the players' starting decks of 45 cards with 3 of each Basic. For a little more breathing room you can add a draft round, meaning 50 card player piles, and 90 cards in the middle. Just tweak til it feels right!

Hello! I have special ways that I like to draft Deserts with 2-4. With 4, 6 packs of 10, burn the last two cards of each pack. With 3, only burn the last card. With 2, a modified Housman. luckypaper.co/resources/fo.... I tweak the center pile that 9 are dealt from, and the decks that 5 drawn from.

Totally agree. I went from not considering it at all, to being my third-favorite Black common!

As long as you *know* what you're doing is incorrect. (I would recommend any other word than one with a different Magic meaning.)

I have known this art for 20 years, but never realized that glowing white spot is in the chest, not at eye, until right now.

I became an L1 about ten years ago, an L2 about five years ago, and let my certification lapse this year. I still judge big cube events, but don't need the cert for that.

They come from spores! They are primitive yet strong! The laws of nature bend to their communal belief!!

Playing to win? Flying is the strongest keyword.

Would it ruin a draft if I brought 35 Goblin Gathering and 10 Unexpected Potential

Cool stuff, and Pack Rat is spicy! Do they have to be Singleton?

Anything Power like Command Tower, Sol Ring, etc should be given to every player to start.

I may have a poorer view of Magic's variance than others, but my counterpoint is that it's impossible to determine if something is reasonably capable. Any given deck could 3-0 or 0-3 because you only get six-nine games with it, and a hundred things can go wrong. Not helpful, I know 😅
comment in response to post
I think Magic's inherent variance results in almost every deck with win conditions and mana sources being reasonably capable of a 3-0.

Are you running the Tinkerer to fight Dreadnoughts? I have seen some people even use it mainboard.

Super fun!! Loved the flash-in memes and *especially* the flavorrr bit.

Those are both in my Museum of Modern and I have a new goal for the next draft...was this in like a Mardu Pyromancer shell?

I have a bachelor's in sociology and hadn't thought about this, thank you for the perspective!
