The best description of this ridiculous situation that I ever heard was a joke, to wit : "We'll take the English Department while they take the White House, and we'll proudly call it 'victory' -- The Far Left". 🤨

The other way in which he has a point is the simple fact that "globalization" (e.g. global "free trade", as formalized into multiple trade agreements), has been a DISASTROUS failure for unskilled workers in Western countries. It has enriched the top 1% while impoverishing the working class.
comment in response to post
What he's likely referring to is the unfortunate fact that the "progressives" of the Western world have been foolishly pandering to boutique far-Left causes like "trans rights", "milk is 'murder'" and so on. This kind of distraction from real issues plays right into the hands of fascists like Trump.

Absolutely true. In particular, the Western democratic world (particularly front-line states like Ukraine) can no longer count on support from the United States (if this was ever the case, and that is debatable). We're on our own now. Protecting human rights and democracy is up to... "us".

You're probably next in line on the MAGA hit list. Be very careful; Mad King Donald is now in full "Putin mode". Stay away from windows, and get ready for the Second Civil War.

But where's the KFC and the Diet Coke?

Iran now WILL construct a nuclear weapon, which is what any rational leadership of a sovereign state would do, given the unprovoked aggression that it is facing from Israel (a nuclear-armed state) and potentially from the U.S. (another one). Nuclear war in the Middle East is now inevitable.

Just a typical day in Trumpland. Why are you surprised?

"Why is Mark Carney pushing a Maga-inspired border bill?", you ask? "Because you voted for a banker... that's why."

Exactly. How does this make the world (including, significantly, Israel) any "safer"? Not that a corrupt thug like Netanyahu knows, or cares.

Look... suppose that your critiques of Biden and Harris are true (they're wild hyperbole, but let's assume for the sake of argument). Even if that were the case, it would NOT excuse the cruel and stupid irresponsibility of America's ignorant, pro-fascist voters, WHO KNOWINGLY VOTED FOR TRUMP.

I can't tell you if he recovers or not; but I CAN advise him not to put escargots on the menu, today.

I can't address this as a player, but as a referee, the most important single thing that causes issues during FRP game play is if the players (and / or the referee), don't keep a running record of "what happened in today's session". One player should be tasked with writing it all down.

It isn't the "job" of a political candidate to "sell" themselves to voters; their "job" is to develop and present a valid plan to govern the country, when and if elected. But none of this excuses the voters. They knew what Trump was all about and they voted for him anyway. The voters are monsters.

False. What Iran had been doing was to stockpile "precursor materials" (e.g. enriched uranium) that COULD have been made into a nuclear weapon. For diplomatic reasons, Iran elected not to build these into a bomb. Thanks to Bibi's war of aggression, however, Iran will do just that. 100% guarantee.

"Creepy PP" Poilievre lost -- despite a tired incumbent Liberal government, which otherwise should have been easy to defeat -- his far-Right, Trump-mimicking agenda is simply incompatible with most Canadians' core values and beliefs. He wows 'em in Alberta. Ontario, Quebec and B.C., not so much.
comment in response to post
Not only is what you're saying (about "LGBTQ2S++ rights") simply untrue, but your blaming Biden and Harris has the side-effect of excusing America's evil, cruel, stupid, ignorant, brutal and nihilist voters, from the consequences of their misconduct. It's the VOTERS who freely voted for fascism.

Well, for whatever it's worth, I'm currently in the last stages of writing a novel in which four astronauts indeed HAVE been stranded on the Moon (due to a landing-system malfunction). Gotta check my firewall. Has this guy been copying from my manuscript? 🤨

Let me correct you. Iran is now GUARANTEED to implement a crash program to build nuclear weapons, as rapidly as possible. This is what any sovereign state would do, if subjected to the kind of treacherous attack that Israel just conducted against Iran. Way to GO, Bibi.
comment in response to post
If that's the case, we're doomed.

Iran is now GUARANTEED to build a nuclear weapon -- which is exactly what ANY other sovereign state (one thinks of Ukraine, for example) would do if subjected to a treacherous attack on the part of a nuclear-armed opponent. The logic is inevitable. Way to GO, Bibi.

America's evil voters love seeing this. "More, more, MORE fascism -- give us MORE illegal arrests, MORE illegal deportations and MORE brutality!", they bleat.
comment in response to post
Hope that you (and the rest of the world) are happy, not only with this unprovoked Israeli war of aggression -- but also with the fact that Iran is now GUARANTEED to build a nuclear weapon... which is what ANY sovereign state would do, under the same circumstances. Nothing good will come of this.

Completely untrue. The Democrats definitely DID emphasize "respect for LGBTQ2++ rights" (etc.) as a core element both of their platform and campaign. And of course this played right into Trump's exploitative hands. It was a CLASSIC "own goal". Look where it has gotten us.

I watched the convention(s). My comments are true, and not only that, but "strong support for 'LGBTQI+ folks'" was actually in the Democratic Party platform (page 57). Next time, maybe check Google before you say ignorant stuff and embarrass yourself. See : democrats.org/wp-content/u...

Sorry, but on November 5, 2024, a plurality of America's stupid, evil, cruel, malicious and ignorant voters, deliberately and knowingly voted for this. If you didn't want fascism, WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR IT?

Why are you surprised? Don't you read Russian? It's all there in the Putin Playbook.

Yes.

How about how, during the campaign (this was vividly on display in the Democratic convention), how Kamala Harris and everyone else on the stage, went out of her way to proudly state, "I support '2SLGBTQ' rights"? You lost 80% of the voters, after the "2s" part of it.

I agree that this ("trans rights") is a Republican red herring pseudo-issue; the problem is, the Democrats are walking right into the trap that the GOP is setting. "Trans rights" are a major issue for only a TINY fraction of the voting public. Talk about something -- ANYTHING -- else... please!

Secede.

(1) The Democratic Party. (2) Highly-vocal groups of extremists on Social Media. The latter specialize in angrily denouncing not the Republicans (who will simply tell them to F off), but instead THEIR ALLIES ON THE LEFT. Trump et. al. just looove seeing this happen. It's music to his ears.
comment in response to post
Well... it's long past time, isn't it? One can (as I am) be sympathetic to causes such as "trans rights" -- which are important to a TINY fraction of the voting public -- without structuring one's entire policy platform around these. Does the Left want to win elections, anyway?

You are accusing Mr. Sanders of corruption. Where's your objectively-verifiable, third-party-sourced evidence... without which, of course, accusations of this type are both malicious and worthless?

Methinks somebody with his hand on the Pantsir launch button, had a little too much Vodka in the few hours leading up to this event.

I was vitriolically attacked by rabid pro-Ukraine propagandists for DARING to suggest that we should wait until valid evidence documenting the extent of the damage to the Russian air force becomes available. "Wanting to know the truth" makes one an "apologist for Putin" in the eyes of these trolls.

Let's use Occam's Razor to postulate the simplest and most straight-forward explanation for this behavior : "Because Trump is a useful idiot for Vladimir Putin, and because his voters are all stupid, ignorant fools, who believe every conspiracy theory that they see on Social Media."

"The current 'government' (using that label in a very loose sense of the word) of Syria, is run by an offshoot of Al-Qaeda. Let's make nice with them because the old Syrian regime was supported by the nasty Russians, and by supporting HTS, we'll make Putin mad. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?"

"Don't worry... we can trust that 'Osama Bin Laden' guy; he's on 'our side'. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?"

OK go ahead and spend all your time attacking SUPPORTERS OF UKRAINE (E.G. YOUR OWN SIDE), instead of reserving your nonsense accusations for the REAL Putin groupies on Social Media -- there are thousands of them, you can find them easily. Honestly... you amaze me.

(3) This situation really crystallizes the entire issue. To retain support from the West, Ukraine MUST at least try to implement a semblance of legality in its war efforts. Yet it is up against a Putin regime that is happy to commit war crimes. I will not deny that it is a difficult balancing act.
