Serious law question: Could the IRS investigate the ex girlfriend that pleaded the 5th? She received $63,000+ over a course of 3 years, so she better have a good accounting for where those funds went. If you divide the amount by 3, it's way over the yearly "gift" exemption, so that defense is out.
