Yes, but the original statement made was that they were prosecuted. They were not charges were dismissed. The statement made was false. Just pointing that out.

Very true given enough time the object we perceive to be the tree will no longer exist in it's current form. The components that comprise it however will eventually be broken down to soil. Only the form is changed. The laws governing the conservation of matter ensure all things are basically eternal
