DO NOT GO IF YOU LOVE THE FILM. Actually, do not go if you even slightly like the film

This all comes out of NOWHERE. Having spent two hours taking the piss out of a rather nice movie, the serious ending feels a swerve. "How dare you enjoy this film?" the play roars, then sends everyone home with a scolding.

During the final fight, Leonard jumps off Mount Rushmore because of gay oppression, Roger Thornhill says PTSD from the war has left him with a string of broken marriages, Vandamm has a long speech about racism, and Eve Kendall stands for the Senate and wins, in order to fight fascism.

The play literally dances on the grave of North By Northwest. There's soft-shoe shuffles, songs, panto audience participation. It feels a mean thing to do to a lovely film, but fiiiine, if you must. And then the ending happens....

Thrilled that @stephengallagher.co.uk will be joining #DoctorWho #TargetBookDay as... well, let's say he's our Guest of Honour. I mean, all of you who are coming are guests of honour, but still. He'll be talking about and reading from Warriors' Gate (hopefully) Tickets: bit.ly/escape2danger

Absolutely. I made my parents watch it 20 years ago and they were polite, but the film is RIPPING.

Keir's now talking about all the nice things the tech sector have built in Somerstown (his constituency, my London home) and it's all a bit "wait, there's a Google Aİ Campus? Near Costcutter?!?!?"

Our fifth talk for #DoctorWho #TargetBookClub is by @alxhwtt.bsky.social and is a quest for a text so lost, it's only in the British Library, and even then, they're having trouble. Expect tumultuous buffeting on Saturday July 19th at the Abbey Centre Westminster. Tickets bit.ly/escape2danger
