The only way to fight the exploitation of the workers is from the grassroots. Unionization and worker solidarity, fight for living wages, universal healthcare, social security, affordable housing, properly funded public schools.

I agree that neither migrant nor U.S. workers should be exploited. However, around 70% of agricultural workers are from outside the U.S., the majority from Mexico. Which indicates that U.S. workers are not going to replace deported migrant workers.

The reality is that Americans don’t want to do these jobs, but they don’t want to pay the real cost of producing food either. Food producers will always find cheap labour sources and the workers will continue to be exploited.
