Nice deflection. I guess that's your skill set

I think your main problem is that not enough people are paying attention to you and you're trying to fix that

Oh, more ideas for you! You could put the focus on the current administration which is doing horrible things everyday, instead of looking for any possible way to criticize Democrats and ignoring everything they are doing. You're welcome!

No, you should stop whining about how they're not doing anything when in fact they are doing things. Better yet, you should stop whining. It's annoying.

Yeah, you're pushing in the wrong direction.

God, I fucking hate everything (except Derek Guy).

Trump’s plan is chaos: provoke protests, justify troops, invoke the Insurrection Act, declare martial law. He doesn’t want order - he wants a fight and he wants it fast.

I regret to say that my city is not very good at picking mayors. We will end up with either Adams or Cuomo, I fear. And this is particularly sad because there are actually a few good candidates running in the Democratic primary.

I didn't think to make a sign, but there were actually people there offering appropriate signs to people who didn't have them. Now that's organization!

The hands-off protests (at least in NYC, where I was) were an excellent example of an effective protest, IMO. Huge, enthusiastic, well-organized, and well behaved. We made a strong statement, and I doubt we alienated anyone. And yes, there was music, excellent signs, etc.

Certainly I have also seen plenty of protests that had assholery. I think his point is generally correct; I am just saying that I have in fact seen large protests that blessedly did not have asshole participants.

As far as I know, the hands-off protests in New York City (which were ginormous) had no such negative events. Even the police said protesters were well-behaved (and they were relieved because they hadn't expected such a huge number and didn't have much manpower covering it).

(There are a few reasons I prefer Lander to Mamdani as a candidate; one is that I think he'd be stronger in the general election against Adams & the GOP candidate. He's progressive but much more palatable IMO to those who aren't actively pro-socialist. Cuomo might be too, but I can't vote for him.
comment in response to post
Going head-to-head in the general, IMO Adams could quite conceivably beat either Mamdani or Cuomo. A lot of people are suspicious of the socialist thing (notwithstanding very strong support for it in other NYC constituencies), & many hate a carpetbagger (which Cuomo is).
comment in response to post
Everyone seems to assume that whoever wins the Democratic primary will win the New York mayoral race, so the media is entirely focused on that. But generally, there isn't an incumbent independent candidate. and as seedy as Adams is, I think he still has support from some key constituencies.

I saw a disturbing number of Adams flags and pins at the Puerto Rican Day parade yesterday.

I do it with other places sometimes, too. You know, it does make me appreciate them more. Perhaps especially because some places I knew have become abandoned (you photographed one—the Fallside hotel).

Update: it's delicious.

I will note one more thing. It is not true, as you claim, that there is always an element of violence and vandalism at protests. I've participated in a couple of absolutely huge ones in NYC that didn't have a whisper of it despite the huge crowds.

You are, and as a matter of fact you are doing so explicitly

I am amazed at how many people will twist themselves into pretzels to justify vandalism and violence that only hurt the movements claim they claim to care about
