I also did my graduate program at a highly esteemed Jesuit college. It was a trip to get to know some of those thoughtful and fascinating men.

Yes, the cast was impressive!
Part of me resents my Catholic upbringing but another part says it has been interesting to have an insider’s POV. In some ways it did set the foundation for compassion and created room for mystery in my life (I’m always looking for the silver lining, ya know?).

It's particularly interesting right now with a conclave opening soon. BTW, did you catch the movie Conclave? Highly recommended.

We have been so socked in with that gray. I think we had one day in the last couple of weeks that was full on sun. It's hard for me b/c I need sunshine but it will change.

The institutional church is a far cry from the message of Jesus. It is about power and control (and apparently a lot of that rests with sexual issues). I have recognized the CC as a cult for a long time. This book further shows that. Is it biased? Everything is documented. I'll post a review on GR

It's a riveting read! I was brined in Catholicism & these were the popes of my lifetime. To read about all the behind scenes activities is fascinating. The focus on all things sexual - celibacy, birth control, LGRTQ issues, the BIG issues of predators and cover ups - is sad and bizarre to me.

That was a valuable book for me. I outlined it as I read it. I need to go back and re- read.

I read this book this week. It is my top book for 2025 so far. Here’s a book review . I also have one on GR that contains more quotes. It is a beautiful book.
Sorry to hear about your cyclist buddy. I have started my spring cycling but I’m being cautious.

Same! I am so bad. I correct people's spoken grammar ALL the time but I do it in my head only. Why bother otherwise? They don't need to know that it should be I and not me (or whatever). My knowledge of grammar (particularly nominative and objective case) was cemented by four years of HS Latin.

Oh wow! I love it. We are deeply immersed in gray with misty all day long. Sigh. The forecast does say sunny for tomorrow.
