The capacity of finance journalists to ignore dividend yield is astonishing. This suggests a FTSE100 investment from 10yrs ago wouldn't have kept place with inflation. The index would not: but an investment with yield would have. Easily (& yielded far more than cash) www.thetimes.com/article/59a6...

At least three have been important sources of vaccine misinformation - very bad www.washingtonpost.com/health/2022/... science.feedback.org/review/scien... sciencebasedmedicine.org/unethical/

Spurs: We want an entertaining, trophy winning game team. Postecoglu: Here is attacking football, a Europa League trophy and a Champions League place. Spurs: You're sacked.

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

There’s been another Tweet Chris! But from who?

The antidote to depressing political news is to read about a decent man trying to make a difference Lunch with the FT with James Timpson, by Emma Jacobs www.ft.com/content/9c06...

When it comes to the law, I'm betting on Harvard law professors over Trump's administration.

I know he's younger than the previous pontiff, but even so, this is pretty impressive stuff given the limited time he'll have had in nets recently.

That Trump attempting to bully Harvard barely registers any more is a sad indictment of how low US politics has fallen under Trump. Universities need to work together to stand up to Trump or their independence will erode.

Not really bothered about football, but the Ange Postecoglu press conference tomorrow will be fun! Well done Spurs!

Orban making overtures to Simion made sense from one perspective only: to gain an illiberal ally in the EU Council. Orban chose to make this incredibly costly gamble, essentially betraying the Transylvanian voters his party spent decades cultivating. And he lost. This is likely consequential.

Agree but the relevance of yes minister still amazes me. Virtually all of the dilemmas are still resonant. The Middle East, Europe, transport, industrial policy, defence, “up north”, councils, arts funding, personal data, the literal physical space of No 10, it’s all there

That is a lot of dwarfs.

Oh god France's entry does look like explosive diarrhoea, doesn't it? #Eurovision

“There’s a small but growing tribe of pontificators, politicians and columnists who can be relied on to mock and demolish net zero without suggesting any alternatives. This is just climate denialism in a posh suit.” @arusbridger.bsky.social @prospectmagazine.co.uk

Did Danny Baker became a Cardinal?

Got to be in it...to be in it...

He doesn't look 85, he is probably an idiot with money, but he remains a comedy hero and in this he is 100% correct. John Cleese:

Tesla results look awful. What is even worse is that Q1 includes about a month before DOGE implemented anything and the anti-Tesla feeling has only grown since then. Q2 is going to be FAR worse.

The thief decided not to try to steal her makeup bag given the weight.

Trump opens his Truth Social account and wipes $1.3tn off the S&P500 (-2.8% currently). A stable genius. The moron premium continues to grow.

My first reaction was to speculate wildly about why someone would be carrying $3,000 in cash on an evening out.

I think BBC might want to check its scaling here. Pretty sure St Peter's Square isn't over 10 miles wide...

William Fotheringham's history of Barry Hoban's exploits in 'Roule Brittania' is well worth a read. A pioneer and an all time great. www.cyclingweekly.com/news/british...

Why is it that Brooks insist on making their running shoes look like they've been designed by a talentless five year old who has been given access to the highlighter pens for the first time? Great running shoes, yet I am struggling to bring myself to buy the latest iteration.

My Trade Secrets today. It's a longstanding American grievance that predates Trump: US companies can't sell cars in Europe & elsewhere because of evil trade barriers. It's actually because US protectionism has encouraged its carmakers to make clunky great gas-guzzlers no one else wants to buy.

I assume Luz Truss's free speech social media site will be called 'Let Us Be Social'?

Excellent thread...

BREAKING: On Friday, the federal government issued new demands of Harvard University. The university's lawyers just responded: back off.

More in No, Other People: New poll: “America would be better off if more people worked in manufacturing.” • 80% of Americans agree • 20% disagree “I would be better off if I worked in a factory.” • 25% of Americans agree • 73% disagree • 2% currently work in a factory

I mean, there’s a reason for that tbh, I wonder if you can guess what it is?

you can't spell "tariffs" without "FFS"

It turns out that when Trump said he'd "Drain the Swamp" he really meant "Drain the 401ks"...

At last, someone who understands how tariffs are going to make America great again! xkcd.com/3073/
