So this BA.3 (now designated BA.3.2) had not reappeared since I posted this thread... until today, when a BA.3.2 showed up in the Netherlands—the first detection outside of South Africa. April 2 collection date. BA.3 ain't dead yet. 1/7

🚨I promised I'd say more on the Royal Society and Elon Musk, so here it is. 🚨 I've resigned my position as Associate Editor at Royal Society's journal Open Science in protest at their lack of action over Elon Musk. My op-ed in @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Average annual energy bill to rise to £1,849 in Great Britain from April And that’s paid after you’ve paid your tax on earnings ffs Expensive country to live in 😡

It would cost over £1800 for a family of 5 to get vaccinated for the tripledemic illnesses you ignorant loofah. The government aren't offering them. <screams> "This could be the toughest winter in NHS history. Here’s a simple way we can all help: Get vaccinated"

I am shocked and stunned and shocked that Boris Johnson might have misled us about this. "Half of new hospitals promised by Boris Johnson will not be built for decades" www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

I've visited six hospitals this week. I've actually seen more people in masks than I have in 18 months. But most of the masks have been ones that aren't designed to protect against spread of airborne disease. They're not the solution. We need to use the right tools for the job.

Notice the details here. #inflation #climatechange

Alba is alive. She made it through the night. I was very worried about the first night. For now we’ll take this big win. Given her name I brought her out to see her first sunrise with me (1/4)

Illegal fox hunting persists under police protection while peaceful protesters face arrest. Eight arrests during Boxing Day hunt parade www.bbc.com/news/article...

Slowly, it creeps closer. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

BA.2.2 popped up in Hong Kong at the start of November? A variant that hasn't been since in 23 months. Is any variant ever truly gone. 😕

Here's the latest variant picture with a global scope. The DeFLuQE variants remain dominant, but growth appears to have stalled. Growth of XEC.* has continued, reaching 28%. #COVID19 #Global #DeFLuQE #XEC 🧵

Imagine writing an article that discusses issues around chronic inflammation... that mentions causes like these "It can be caused or exacerbated by stress, insufficient sleep and exercise. Environmental factors, such as air pollution and chemical exposure and microplastic ingestion..."

Sound advice

A few thoughts on Welby and Smyth and the system that kept Smyth's abuse hidden.

THREAD: we urgently need to talk about babies & Covid - AGAIN. A new paper has dropped looking at acute Covid-19 outcomes from Sep 2023-Apr 2024 by age for all England. Except for deaths, babies under 6 mths old have HIGHEST risk of A&E, admission & SEVERE hospital admission across ALL ages 1/10
