I only run a small festival, but for us it's more that all our suppliers have increased their prices by 20-25% since covid. Venue hire, sound, lighting, transport, toilets, everything. Wages haven't increased enough to allow that to be passed on to ticket buyers, making the whole thing untenable

Was chatting to a doctor at a barbecue yesterday about ozempic and other mass health interventions and was pretty shocked to hear him cite the covid vaccine as one where the overall benefit was less clear

Speaking of Princess Margaret, she was once on The Archers, playing herself attending a fete at Ambridge. After her first take, the producer said, “Your Highness, could you sound as though you’re enjoying yourself a bit more?” “Well I wouldn’t be, would I?” M replied.

I think we often underestimate - by vast margins - what an astonishing feat of process engineering much of our daily lives involve, and how much of this is based on systems that may not be theoretically optimal, but are nonetheless wildly efficient by the simple virtue of *actually working*.

Explaining to the very angry man, who, in all honesty didn't really want to stab me, that if I *had* nicked his telly, I would, in fact, be carrying said telly was one of the longer 5 minutes of my life

Lived for nearly 25 years in the Brixton area. To date, the only place anyone has pulled a knife on me is on the Poppleton Rd in York when an alcoholic came home to find his flat burgled, grabbed a kitchen knife, went out to find the guys who did it and found me
