I like to think that it's more sad than funny. You live in such an insular, self-absorbed, self-celebrating culture that it was inevitable. There's nothing wrong with a society realising that it's not entitled, it's what that society does once that dawns on them that matters.

Of course not. They're not patriots, they're partisan because they're only in it for themselves. They vote 'me first ', not 'country first'.

Indeed. There's only so much cake to go around. Pretty soon the guillotine starts to look awfully friendly.

That's precisely the point, keep us angry at each other and they're as safe as the day is long. As long as we're fighting each other, we won't unite to fight them.
comment in response to post
Why would they? They have what they want: Power. They're there for their own interests, they could give a hang about those who elected them to serve on their behalf.

Trump is Putin's useful idiot.

Hear hear! But I will add that I know your fight is "local" to your nation, but it's a global fight. We are all adversely impacted by the corrupt oligarchy and its trickle-up economics.

Here's a headline from an Oligarchy media site: "Trump has 90 days to do 150 trade deals" He doesn't have two brain cells to rub together and couldn't even tie his shoes in 90 days, let alone broker 150 complex international trade deals. He's further solidifying his status as an all-time fool.

MAGA is a means to the corrupt, global oligarchy's ends: perpetuate their trickle-up economics at any cost.
comment in response to post
MAGA's a reaction to a world its un-adaptive adherents don't understand and and has passed them by, a desperate turn towards anyone saying "I am you, I can fix it" snake oil. It's a culmination of an ongoing campaign to get us to blame each other rather than the oligarchy. If keeps the latter safe.

A wise man once wrote that "if no one seems to understand, start your own revolution and cut out the middleman". China's able to stare down American ignorance and arrogance, but we the little people are still getting the raw end of the deal. Time for our own revolution: rolling general strikes.

🥺 These nefarious oligarchs and their political puppets aren't immoral, they're amoral. They are the Wendigo incarnate. All non-human people deserve our gratitude, our respect and our stewardship in the spirit of reciprocity. Greed is a mental illness.

Trump is doing the corrupt, global oligarchy's dirty with, enabling their trickle-up economics. There's is but a single way to fight back: a planet-wide campaign of non-violent non-cooperation.

I recommend this, if you get the chance. Research indicates it's on the level. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buy_Now...

My new year's resolution was to shop completely local as much as is practicable. I've eschewed ordering anything online. I cannot fathom a "need" for something in southeast Asia today to be on my doorstep tomorrow. Imagine the ecological cost! Our only recourse is global non-cooperation.

Turns out that insular Americans don't realize that they comprise some 6% of the global population, and that there are vast resources available around the globe that contains billions of consumers not living in the United States. I know, right? Who knew? This is what comes from self-satisfaction.

PS As are those "journalists" who interview her and let her get away with it. Rather than taking the opportunity to call her out for her bullshit and stop her "But Whatabout Hillary!" deflections, all they're doing is providing her with a disinformation platform. Shame on them too.

Kellyanne Conway is the undisputed queen of Deflection, Obfuscation, Whataboutism and Gaslighting. She's made a highly successful yet nefarious career of it. She is without shame.

The creature has stolen the Q Modulator!
comment in response to post
They don't care. All they care about is power, never mind the means to achieve it.
comment in response to post
Ah, Whataboutism, the ultimate "rebuttal". See also, Obfuscation, Deflection, Gaslighting.

Hear hear! America has been losing the plot for years, now it's completely lost it. I blame an insular, entitled society, but that's nothing new. All empires in history have collapsed thusly. Going backwards in an "adapt or die" universe is a recipe for disaster. America is a failed state.

Every accusation from these nefarious people is a confession. I'm not generally given to conspiracy theories but wouldn't be surprised if it came out that Musk was involved in some rigging last November. Just enough to win, not enough to trigger recounts. Then there was the magical regrowing ear 👌

They're robbing from the poor to give to the rich. It's trickle-up economics.

Nuttin' like sugar-shacking! It's one of the greatest joys of spring. Very social, folks playing barkeep, chopping wood and keeping the fires burning, collecting the sap, feeding the pans with fresh sap to distill, all to convert 40 parts of sap into 1 part syrup. It's all about the journey, enjoy!

I say we trade Alberta and Sascratchyerbum for California, Oregon and Washington.

Now you're catching on. Don't play in to that internet troll's bullshit, just ignore it. Trolls lose their raison d'etre when they're ignored.
comment in response to post
That's a start, but we need rolling general strikes across the globe. We need to bring the world to a screeching halt so that they have no choice but to deal with us.
comment in response to post
Hear hear! We must unite across the globe in solidarity, affecting planet-wide rolling general strikes to defeat our common enemy: the corrupt global oligarchy! news.harvard.edu/gazette/stor...

He's on Fox "News". It's performative bullshit. To say that it's classless is to work for the Department of Redundancy Department. The best thing to do with these frightwing sociopaths is to ignore them, not to repeat their bullshit to trigger outrage. Do better, @georgetakei.bsky.social.

Workers of the world unite! We all must unite in solidarity around the world in rolling, planet-wide general strikes!

Why pay taxes? They're gutting all the services, including and especially Veteran Affairs, FEMA and NOAA, and trickling that money up into Musk contracts and feeding the oligarchy. They're coming for Medicare, Medicaid and SS. What's the point of paying when We the People get 0 return?
comment in response to post
That's a bingo. The disease is inequity. People are so desperate that they swing hard right and believe any fool telling them what they want to hear: it's someone else's fault but vote for "me" and "I will fix it for you". There's a single answer: global general strikes.

Fundamentalists select from doctrine that which supports their narratives and myopic world views, while discarding the rest as inconvenient and irrelevant. E.g. Anthropogenic climate change? Chin'er hoax. But they'll direct us to "follow the science" vis a vis transgender.

It sure worked out ok for India in 1947.

One tiny man with huge ideas and an iron resolve from a little seaside village on the Arabian Sea overthrew the British empire with non-violent non-cooperation. It is the only weapon we have, and it's a weapon of mass destruction if used against the corrupt global oligarchy.
comment in response to post
Neoliberalism isn't Liberal. It was co-opted by the corrupt global oligarchy as yet another means to perpetuate its trickle-up economics. The systems are all broken, corrupt and altered to their benefit. This is class warfare on a planetary scale. We must unite in solidarity with non cooperation.

Classic. They used to play NFB shorts in movie theatres back when I was a kid. Do yourself a favour and check out the Richard Condie shorts Cat Came Back and The Big Snit.
