LED watches are why Douglas Adams used the line, "... so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."
Which seemed weird when I'd only seen LCD watches.
But now that we're in the era of mobile phones (and smartwatches) it makes sense again!

They're amazing machines! I knew someone whose father worked the Intertype "clones" back in the day. He was able to show us it working at a historic farming equipment show.
Amazing what we used to do with clutches and cams and so on.

That’s how I plan some of my holidays!
Today I learned how self-playing musical instruments work (at Museum Speelklok in Utrecht).
I had to use paid time off… and none of my colleagues went… but it’s _like_ a field trip but with a brewery visit after.

Lot 666, an Internet in Pieces. Some of you may recall the site Bluesky, so many years ago. Our system engineers have restored it from backup and fitted up parts of it with new electric links, so that we may get a glimpse of what it may be like when re-assembled.

The bass flute, which I have seen and heard live only once. Deep (obvs) almost haunting sound, with a slow attack even for a flute.
