1. Public statues are not politically neutral. They are statements about who and what we honour as a society. The decision to erect (or to maintain) them is an exercise of power over the public realm. As such, it carries into one age the values and power structures of another.

Still reeling (in a very good way) from back-to-back-to-back wins for Glamorgan and the breakthrough inningses of Ben Kellaway. So heartening- and so frustrating that we’ve got to wait a month before we go again!!

It is. It’s surprisingly difficult to sing (or, at least, to sing well), I found - not a problem in that recording, though

Sad news. His recordings of British light classics sparkle as brightly today as when they were made. I sang in one of the children’s choirs he led, and his excellence and enthuiasm helped form my love of music. His setting of Herrick’s To Daffodills has walked with me over the decades. RIP, Ron.

Sorry to hear that, and to be missing your commentary. Greatly enjoyed your preview, as always.

The key late goal turned out to be Salisbury’s. So, it’s basically win our remaining two games and hope that Salisbury lose or draw (or Enfield lose) both of theirs. It’s not looking promising.

It’s the lingering hope which gets you. A reckon it’ll be another 90+x winner, one way or the other

Very good. Although you are disturbingly close to “Farts: A Spotter’s Guide”…

Good finds. Love The Card. Wouldn’t mind a gander at the Farjeon at some point, if you’re prepared to loan it out.

“Marching” doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. But no ground lost, and a big defeat for Salisbury helps on goal difference. 12 points left on the table, so to speak…

Thank you so much for being the soundtrack to my mornings for the last nine years, when I turned to Radio 3 for a more positive start to my day. I’ve loved listening - the roadtrips, broadcasts from Truro and, above all, your shows during lockdown, which were an absolute lifeline. Thank you.
