The guy was such a grifter. He made money on their dues, their robes, the pocket Constitutions, flags, etc.
And he thought he was above the law and got away with everything, until one day in the wrong town he brutally beat one of the women he raped.

You've probably read this already. I just read it last year. It details the life of the Klan leader from Indianapolis IN.

I would like one day to do the research you are doing.
One line of my family is from Kokomo Indiana, home of the Woodstock sized Klan rally of 1925.
I'm kind of scared of what I'd turn up there.

I did some research a couple years ago for personal reasons. I found out there was much more Klan activity than I ever suspected.

In 1969 my dad was a Baptist music minister in Pekin, about 9 miles away.
Our high school was the Pekin Chinks. I rollers ated on Saturday nights at the Chink Rink.
I had no idea at the time how racist central Illinois was.

"A misplaced prepositional phrase is a phrase that's positioned incorrectly in a sentence, causing confusion about what it modifies. It makes the sentence awkward, unclear, or even humorous because the phrase seems to modify the wrong word or element"

I know a guy who owns "a security business" in Wisconsin.
He doesn't actually "do security" but the licence allows him to purchase fully automatic machine guns for his own use.

So, in 1966 we Christians were the persecuted portion of the population?
Ministers made those same type of statements on the 20s and 30s.
So how long ago was the last decade when America was "great"?

Fyi,
There are 7.4 million jobs available. And only 54% of jobs offer health insurance.
That means they are taking away health insurance from 10 million people with only 4 million jobs with healthcare are out there.
And how many Medicare recipients are even qualified for those jobs?
