There’s such a thing as curtailing some normal liberties, and then another thing when you imprison people indefinitely for their ethnicity with no evidence. If the government did that today, would you say the same thing?

If the government wanted to investigate individuals out of suspicion for their national ties, fair enough. But the way they went about it was shameful.

I actually did not know that. But either way, it still was wrong. No one should ever be locked up without due process and forced out of their home simply for their heritage. War or not, the government never has an excuse to commit those actions. People are not just numbers.

Then why didn’t they do the same to anyone with heritage from an Axis powers country? It was a racist, broad-brushing policy of imprison and ask questions later, damning the lives of all involved for no reason other than their heritage. It’s indefensible.

There was no legitimate pretext even with Pearl Harbor. They were still Americans who had their rights violated and their lives stripped away from them without due process.
