When Trump and Musk want to pull the US out of NATO, the US is no longer an ally. Why buy weapons from a country you are not an ally with?
If you look at the US aircraft industry, it is being outcompeted by Airbus, which is a collaboration between various EU countries.

It has been an unwritten rule that the US has paid a lot for NATO, but that European countries buy US weapons. Europe has usually bought US fighter jets, missiles and high-tech weapons. The US has earned billions of $ from Europe's dependence on the US. The exception is France.

Europe will increase its defense production, and make itself less dependent on the US. With increased weapons production in Europe, this will reduce purchases of American weapons - This will reduce American jobs in the US arms industry.
Why buy American weapons if the US will not help Europe?

This meant that Stalin got loyal state apparatus, which was afraid of Stalin and Beira's purges. When Nazi Germany attacked, many of the best generals were shot or put in prison/gulag. This meant that the Soviet forces lost many of their best officers, who were replaced by loyal useful idiots.

Can the purge of military and civil servants in today's USA be compared to Stalin's purge of the Red Army?
Is Musk doing the same job and process as Beira (head of the NKVD - Security Police)? In the 1930s, Stalin had a purge of his political enemies .
Are Musk & DOGE the same as Beira & NKVD?
