Having a strong understanding of line work and having bold, confident lines is more important than you think. That and anatomy: Anatomy anatomy anatomy. Just reference medical diagrams, muscles and bones, guts and skin folds. Those are super important for base level art

Art wise with bellies though, I highly reccomend drawing the body of the prey in the belly as well, that way you can visualize bulges and the general silhouette of the belly easier. I like to think of a prey in a stomach as them having a super thick blanket over them
