Yes, but as far as I understand it, it took a real period of sustained protests there before it went fully nationwide (that is, centered in Belgrade as you say).

Also, I don't have too much experience with Czech dubbing in general but I do really appreciate that they localized some of the references in Simpsons episode titles (The Regina Monologues -> Obtěžoval jsem anglickou královnu, Please Homer, Don't Hammer 'Em -> Kladivo na Homera)

Not always true, the Czech translation of HP is generally praised for creative name translations (especially in comparison to the Slovak one, which left the English names alone).

Well, also, people watch the Olympics for feats of athleticism, not charisma. A strategy explicitly rejecting athleticism undermines the enterprise.

My friend is in a Ukrainian choir and the differences between how fourth-generation Ukrainian Christians and fourth generation Ukrainian-Jews talk about their heritage is fascinating (she says her goal as the latter is too convince the former that Ukraine is a multiethnic society).
