Children will learn that reading is fun through their families and early learning centres, the younger the better. School age is leaving it too late.

Both #qanda and #theproject became politically and socially biased, so audiences stopped watching. #insiders should end too, for the same reasons.

The Victorian government is subsidising, with no or low interest loans, installations of solar panels and batteries, as well as heat pumps. A solar house is largely self-sufficient, not a money spinner. Gas heating and cooking are rapidly disappearing, making the home healthier for inhabitants.

Aged Care is more about money than care. Authorities try to keep old people out of expensive bedspaces in hospitals and nursing homes. It costs money to keep the elderly safe in their homes as physical and mental capabilities fade, money that governments do their best to limit.

Personal boycotts would be wise if ICE are still on the rampage by then.

Journalists aim to record the truth in the world's trouble spots but it is a dangerous occupation. Despite a policy of formal immunity from deliberate harm, many journalists have been injured or even killed during their work.

Who on earth would attend US Olympics, either as competitor or spectator?

Well done, South Australia! A model for all Australian states to follow.

The suggestion was not as an alternative but as an additional disincentive to buy bulky high emissions vehicles.

Far better idea than making parking spaces bigger to accommodate tank-sized family vehicles. Registration fee likewise should reflect pollution levels of bigger vehicles.

Not quite that safe, Kent... Remember Dutton's Home Affairs all-powerful, armed, dressed in black Border Farce, authorised to stop anyone on the street and demand proof of identity? That was a taste of what we might expect if hard RW Dutton had ever become PM.

Of course it was. So it is now too. Inciting insurrection lets Trump take advantage of the chaos which follows.

Getting rid of any Murdoch Media you might still have would be a good start. It is corrosive.

Thank you, Eric. I welcome your long threads, which are always logical and informative. They help me reorganise my thoughts, particularly on legal matters where I have no training or expertise. πŸ™‚

If they didn't vote last year, get them to vote next time, if there will in fact be a next time! It seems Trump is planning to install martial law so he will have the power to end all democratic activities such as elections, in order to remain president as long as he lives.

Thank you for good sound common sense. People who whip up emergencies to benefit from them, whether tariffs, protests, etc are concerned only with their own profit and power, not with the welfare of other people.

Probably the first time in history that social disruption is fully. recorded. Eventually justice should deal with those who broke laws which aim to protect civilised society.

Canadians have much to be thankful for, mostly because they have enjoyed law abiding governments who care for the wellbeing of citizens.

Civilisation is not saved by brutal targeting of individual unarmed citizens.
comment in response to post
Absolute brutality, the victim outnumbered, terrorised by mounted officials and, on foot, thugs with batons.
comment in response to post
That is horrifying!

Fortunately the attack was caught on camera. Justice should come in the aftermath.

End ICE crime, we hope.
