this is just an entirely new game in an entirely new world that you could probably write about and consider for hours, which is not something i have the mental capacity to do lol. (2/2)

In that sort of situation, it’s hard to say. i think the fundamental structure of the game would be so different, a lot of formats probably wouldn’t exist. for example, it’d be difficult to have premodern if you couldn’t get your hands on old cards easily. i think as i said in the previous (1/2)

and survival mode. creative mode gives you access to everything, whereas in survival you have to scrounge for it, and it’s more limited. would minecraft be a better game if it only had survival mode? i don’t think so. Maybe this is a bad comparison, but its the first thing that came to mind. (2/2)

first of all, i strongly believe that in a world of artless rectangles, the game doesn’t survive Alpha. second, i feel like that’s a world so far removed from my current perception that it’s difficult to theorize on. i guess my closest comparison would be Minecraft, where there’s creative mode (1/2)

not an art, but a printing. I’m working on fully foiling out a second deck rn, and prior to the FF commander decks, i had to exclude this card cause it had no foil printings. Now that it has a surge foil, I can add it in.

things I enjoy. I could be as creative as i want with synergies and card choices, and yet the deck wouldn’t look like I want it to unless I purchased the specific printings I wanted, or spent a lot of money on sealed to dig for em. (2/2)

Limitation breeds creativity sure, but i think the *kind* of creativity is important. for example, sure, i could buy 1 single set booster box and only build with that, and i may have a good time. however, as a person who loves foils and showcase printings, it would be lacking a lot of the (1/2)

for more competitive formats, maybe, sure. but for something like commander i think it restricts a lot of potential creativity, and could be damaging to what a lot of people enjoy about deckbuilding

i don’t think so. I think limiting your potential card pool is more harmful than helpful. if you have access to everything, you can still be selective with what you want, whereas if you only have what you crack from packs, it’s difficult to be flexible.
