I know they're just spam bots but dang, they really need to update their scripts.

I swear, people are deliberately parking these things to be as annoying as possible.

If we're in the era of remaking horror games then we should be revisiting the scariest game concept of all: A straight couple invites you over for dinner and then puts you in the middle of their failing marriage and expects you to pick sides

We're getting a bit of wildfire smoke haze here in Calgary, though it doesn't smell too bad at the moment.

what my Workout Buddy pep talk will be: "Okay, you're starting late, but you can do this! ... Keep up this pace and I'm sure you'll catch up to where you were last month! ... Well, at least you got out of bed this morning!"

Honestly, Deltarune didn't really grab me in the same way that Undertale did. Not saying it's *bad*, just that something about the isolation and melancholy of UT resonated with me more. (It probably doesn't help that I am An Old and out-of-touch with...everything)

Re: the fuss about Claude, a system doesn't actually have to *be* AGI to cause a lot of harm. Something imitating theories about what SkyNet could do can still cause just as much damage as an actual SkyNet, if you let it.

Now this is my kind of day, 18-20C, light breeze, just enough cloud to keep the sun from being too oppressive...

Okay, apparently I should *not* have picked up the 'max strength' melatonin pills on a whim and the recommended dose is only 1/5th what's in these. I've been trying them for a week and they've just been making me sleepier during the following day, not improving my actual sleep.

Today's walk I was thinking about how much the river has changed since I've been here. This gravel island under the 10th St bridge didn't really exist prior to the 2013 flood. You could see a tiny patch when the river was low, that's it, and now this large island is a permanent fixture.

Four bunnies! My day is blessed.

Decided to swing west down to Crowchild instead of east as usual for today's walk, just for something different. Not quite as interesting though, and fairly flat, so probably not as much of a workout. Some nostalgia on seeing the old bus depot though, I took the bus from there so many times...

I really need to upgrade my PC, but I've lost the will to assemble one myself these days, so I look at the local shop prebuilts and there's a hundred different slight variants but none of them are *exactly* what I want, and 3/4 of them are out of stock at any given time and brughphlbmrphargh...

Saw another friend on the way to work this morning.

I went to look up some information, and one of the top hits is a Fandom wiki page. I didn't realize it had gotten quite *this* bad -- the landing page contains not a single shred of useful information.

RIP my streak, killed by AI.

For once I actually feel a little less dirty for strategic voting. Now c'mon, get vote reform going already...

I figured I'd beat the rush and went to vote 15 minutes after they opened and there was already a line outside. I got lucky though, as my specific polling station was idle, so they were checking for anyone assigned to it and I got to skip the line. I hope it goes smoothly for everyone else today!

The weather wasn't great today, but after it stopped raining I went out and did my walk anyway...and right as I hit the halfway point, it started snowing. Ah, spring in Alberta...

It was a very nice day for a walk, and there are even signs of spring finally starting to appear. Not a great time, at 6.25km in 69m27s (5.4 km/h), but I've done worse.

"Desire paths typically emerge as convenient shortcuts where more deliberately constructed paths take a longer or more circuitous route, have gaps, or are non-existent." Or if the existing path isn't wide enough...

A fairly nice day out today. Even after a bunch of these nice days, there's still some ice and snow on the riverbanks, though.

"Hey, we know you recently upgraded to 750mbps internet, but wouldn't 1500mbps internet be even better?" Man, I'm lucky to hit 300 as it is, what good is another 750 *theoretical* mbps going to do, get lost.

Much nicer out today. Well, aside from all the construction...

"Hmm, this service is behaving oddly, guess I'll have to turn on debug-level logging and see what's going on." *fiddles around* "Ah, there we go, easily fixed and back to normal!" A week later: "Why is my server out of disk space???"

Not a great day for a walk thanks to the weather making it clear how...brown everything still is. But at least the sun wasn't trying to burn out my retinas.

I hope Marathon is good and is successful and the devs do well and the players have fun, it's just...not the kind of game I'm personally interested in. I have been meaning to finally check out the original trilogy, though. store.steampowered.com/app/2398450/...

I think I've spent more time fixing metadata on ebooks than actually reading them lately. Even a batch of books from the same publisher in the same series will be inconsistent on the order of names, if there's a space after an initial, etc. One even had the author as "Robert JordanJordan, Robert"!

Knight Rider (1988), NES

I really need to get back into walking now that the weather's nice, so tonight I did my usual river route. 6.3km in 69m28s is a bit below usual pace, a sign of just how out of shape I am, but...gotta do it.

There's a debugging technique where I'll delete something just to see what effect it has, what was dependent upon it, etc. That works fine in the dev environment on my desktop. I wouldn't do it on a live system, and I definitely wouldn't recommend trying it as active large-scale government policy.

Oddly, I have a disproportionately large share of trans people that I follow on social media, Twitch, YT, etc. It wasn't a deliberate choice, but once you get to know some, it's just really easy to find other cool people that are also trans because it's such a tight, supportive community.

Back to work after my vacation, and there are no bug tickets assigned to me, no emails awaiting response, no panicked chats in Teams, which means that a) ah, it's nice when things go smoothly, and b) oh god they don't actually need me
