Old enough to remember Bob Dole going on (in his debate with Bill Clinton) about “Democrat Wars.” Worth pointing out that (unlike Dole and HW Bush) neither W nor Trump had active duty military background or (being what John Fogerty would call “fortunate sons”) any sense of economic vulnerability
